Terry Young was mayor of Tulsa,Oklahoma from 1984 to 1986.
Young graduated Edison High School in 1966 and received an associate degree from Tulsa Community College.
Young was appointed as county commissioner of Tulsa County's second district in 1976 and was later elected to a full term that year. [1] [2] He was reelected in 1978 [3] and 1982. [2]
In 1984,Young was elected Mayor of Tulsa by a 924 vote margin against incumbent mayor Jim Inhofe. [2] He served one term as mayor between 1984 and 1986. He negotiated the land exchange with the Department of Housing and Urban Development to build OSU-Tulsa and allocated $10 million dollars to expand the Gilcrease Museum. [4]
As mayor,he created a flood control program in response to the 1984 flood. The program was controversial because of its home buyout element. [5]

State Highway 67,abbreviated as SH-67,is a 9.94-mile-long (16.00 km) highway on the south side of Tulsa. It begins in the west at U.S. Route 75 Alternate in Kiefer and runs east along 151st St. South before ending at US-64 in Bixby. Along the way it crosses US-75 in Glenpool. It has no lettered spur routes.

He played one season in the American Basketball Association (ABA) and nine in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Denver Nuggets (1975–77),Seattle SuperSonics (1977–78),New York Knickerbockers (1978–84) and Milwaukee Bucks (1986–87). Brian John Bingman is an American politician from the U.S. state of Oklahoma who has served in elected and appointed offices since the 1990s. A member of the Republican Party,he was first elected to the Sapulpa city commission in 1992,before being elected mayor by his fellow commissioners in 1994. He would serve in both of these offices until 2004,when he was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives to represent the 30th district. After one term in the house,Bingman ran for the 12th district of the Oklahoma Senate in 2006 and would hold the seat until term limited in 2016. Hoot Sackett was an American college baseball coach. He was the head coach at Oklahoma State University from 1920 to 1921.
The 1920 United States Senate election in Oklahoma took place on November 2,1920. Incumbent Democratic Senator Thomas Gore ran for re-election to a third term. However,he was defeated in the Democratic primary by Congressman Scott Ferris. In the general election,Ferris faced fellow Congressman John W. Harreld,the Republican nominee. Likely helped by Republican presidential nominee Warren G. Harding's victory in Oklahoma over Democratic nominee James M. Cox,Harreld defeated Ferris by a similar margin to Harding's.
The Black Dispatch (1914–1982) was an African American weekly newspaper published in Oklahoma City. Roscoe Dunjee was the paper's editor. Dunjee was an influence on Ralph Ellison who was a courier for the paper.

Henry Lee Johnson was a 15-year-old black teenager who was murdered in Idabel,Oklahoma by a man in 1980 after entering the parking lot of the Black Hat Club. His murder led to a riot in Idabel that left two more men dead.
