Han Herred or Hanherrederne is a traditional district in northern Jutland, Denmark. It lies between Thy in the west and Vendsyssel in the east. To the north it faces the North Sea (Skagerrak) and to the south the Limfjord. There are only two towns with more than 1,000 inhabitants, Fjerritslev and Brovst.
Hanherred is the central, but lesser known part of the North Jutlandic Island. Since the municipal reform of 2007, it is mainly a part of Jammerbugt municipality. The westernmost fringe with the villages of Frøstrup and Vesløs belongs to Thisted municipality and is sometimes erroneously thought to be part of Thy. The border to Thy is Arup Vejle and Tømmerby Fjord, while the border to Vendsyssel is the river Ryå, just west of Aabybro.
Herred is an ancient Danish judicial district, and since the area actually contains two of these, Øster (East) Han Herred and Vester (West) Han Herred, the plural form Hanherrederne is sometimes used.
Aalborg Municipality is a municipality in North Jutland Region on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. The municipality straddles the Limfjord, the waterway which connects the North Sea and the Kattegat east-to-west, and which separates the main body of the Jutland peninsula from the island of Vendsyssel-Thy north-to-south. Until 1 January 2007 Thyborøn-Harboøre was a municipality in the former Ringkjøbing County on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 42 km2, and had a total population of 4,690 (2005). Its last mayor was Erik Flyvholm.
Until January 1, 2007 Thyholm was a municipality in the former Ringkjøbing County on the island of Vendsyssel-Thy, a part of the Jutland peninsula in northwest Denmark. The municipality included the island of Jegindø, and it covered an area of 76 km2. It had a total population of 3,577 (2005). Its last mayor was Peter Gade, a member of the Conservative People's Party political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Hvidbjerg.
The North Jutlandic Island, Vendsyssel-Thy, or Jutland north of the Limfjord, is the northernmost part of Denmark and of Jutland. It is more common to refer to the three traditional districts Vendsyssel, Hanherred and Thy, however. The area has been intermittently a tied island, and during modern times was not surrounded by water until a storm in February 1825, which severed the region from the remainder of Jutland and caused a water connection between the North Sea and the western end of the Limfjord. Hence it is traditionally regarded as a part of Jutland rather than a separate island.

The Limfjord is a shallow part of the sea, located in Denmark where it has been regarded as a fjord ever since Viking times. However, it now has inlets both from the North Sea and Kattegat, and hence separates the North Jutlandic Island from the rest of the Jutland Peninsula. The Limfjord extends from Thyborøn Channel on the North Sea to Hals on the Kattegat. It is approximately 180 kilometres long and of an irregular shape with numerous bays, narrowings, and islands, most notably Mors, and the smaller ones Fur, Venø, Jegindø, Egholm and Livø. It is deepest at Hvalpsund.
Hanstholm is a small town and a former island, now elevated area in Thisted municipality of Region Nordjylland, located in northern Denmark. The population of the town is 2,104.
Nørresundby is a city in Aalborg Municipality, north of Limfjorden, in Vendsyssel, in Denmark. The urban area has a population of 23,718. It is located just north of Aalborg, which lies south of Limfjorden. Statistically its own urban area since 2006, it is often still considered part of Aalborg, sometimes the name Greater Aalborg (Stor-Aalborg) is used to describe the concept.
Until 1 January 2007 Sydthy municipality was a Danish municipality in the former Viborg County on the west coast of Vendsyssel-Thy, a part of the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark. It is on the north bank of the Limfjord. The municipality covered an area of 322 km², and had a total population of 11,239 (2005). Its last mayor was Arne Hyldahl, a member of the Venstre political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Hurup.
Odsherred is a peninsula in the north-western part of the island Zealand (Sjælland) in Denmark. Odsherred stretches from the Sjællands Odde in the north-west to the now drained Lammefjord in the south, covering an area with a wide range of the most typical Danish landscapes: long sandy beaches, small rolling hills and farming. The peninsula is served by the railway Odsherredsbanen, which runs through the most important towns, including Nykøbing Sjælland, Asnæs and Hørve.
Aalborg County is a former province in Denmark, located in north-eastern Jutland around the eastern approach to the Limfjord. Aalborg County was established in 1793 and abolished in 1970 when it merged with Hjørring County forming the new North Jutland County.
Thisted County is a former province in Denmark, located on the north-westernmost part of the country It encompassed the westernmost part of the island of Vendsyssel-Thy. It was dissolved in 1970 when the bulk of it was merged into Viborg County while other regions joined the counties of Ringkjøbing and North Jutland.
Thy is a traditional district in northwestern Jutland, Denmark. It is situated north of the Limfjord, facing the North Sea and Skagerrak, and has a population of around 44,000. The capital is Thisted. Snedsted, Hanstholm and Hurup are minor towns in the area.

The mediaeval Danish sysler may be compared to the fylker of Norway, the landskaps of Sweden and Finland, the shires of England and Scotland, and the Gaue of the Holy Roman Empire. A syssel was subdivided into a number of hundreds or herreder.

The Vendsyssel railway line is a 80.7 km (50.1 mi) long standard gauge single track railway line in Denmark which runs through the historical region of Vendsyssel between Aalborg and Frederikshavn in North Jutland. It constitutes the northernmost part of Den Østjyske Længdebane, the through route through the Jutland Peninsula from Padborg to Frederikshavn.
Sindal Municipality was a municipality in Denmark. It was located on the island of Vendsyssel-Thy at the top of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark and belonged to North Jutland County. It was abolished effective 1 January 2007. The municipal seat was located in the town of Sindal.
