Hanna Kosonen (born 27 February 1976) is a Finnish politician and former ski-orienteering competitor. She was Finland's Minister of Science and Culture from August 2019 till August 2020.
She became double junior world champion in ski orienteering in 1996. She won a bronze medal in the long distance at the 2000 World Ski Orienteering Championships,and a gold medal in the relay. Her best performances in the World Cup in Ski Orienteering were placing fourth overall in 2000,and fifth overall in 2001.
She has been a member of the Finnish Parliament for the Centre Party since 2015,and was appointed Minister of Science and Culture in Antti Rinne's cabinet in August 2019 for the duration of Annika Saarikko's maternity leave.
Kosonen was born in Savonlinna on 27 February 1976. She graduated with a Master of Arts degree from the University of Jyväskylä in 2003. [1] [2] Her work experience include assignments with the forest industry group Metsäliitto,the association Toiminnanjohtaja ,the publishing house Maahenki ,and the entrepreneuring association Diges. [1] She has two children; [2] her marriage was dissolved in 2017. [3]
Kosonen competed at the 1996 Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships in BanskáBystrica/Donovaly,where she won a gold medal in the long distance,a gold medal in the short distance,and a bronze medal in the relay with the Finnish team. [4] In 1997 she placed 17th overall in the World Cup in Ski Orienteering. [5] She competed at the 1998 World Ski Orienteering Championships in Windischgarsten,where she placed 15th in the long distance,and 13th in the short distance. [6] She placed 8th overall in the World Cup in Ski Orienteering in 1999. [7] At the 2000 World Ski Orienteering Championships in Krasnoyarsk,she won a bronze medal in the long distance,placed 14th in the short distance,and won a gold medal in the relay with the Finnish team,along with Mervi Anttila and Liisa Anttila. [8] She placed fourth overall in the World Cup in Ski Orienteering in 1999. [9] In 2001 she placed fifth overall in the World Cup in Ski Orienteering. [10] At the 2002 World Ski Orienteering Championships in Borovetz,she placed 9th in the middle distance and 18th in the long distance. [11]
Kosonen was elected to the Finnish Parliament for the Centre Party in 2015,from the constituency of South-Eastern Finland. [1] She was member of the Education and Culture Committee. In 2017 she was also elected member of the Savonlinna City Council. [2] In 2019 she was re-elected to the parliament for the term 2019–2023. [12] On 9 August 2019,Kosonen was appointed as Minister of Science and Culture in Antti Rinne's cabinet,replacing Annika Saarikko,who took maternity leave. Savonlinna is a town and a municipality of 31,949 inhabitants in the southeast of Finland,in the heart of the Saimaa lake region,which is why the city is also nicknamed the "Capital of Saimaa". Together with Mikkeli,it is one of the largest towns in the South Savonia region and one of the concentrations in the region's hospital districts. The town is internationally known for its medieval St. Olaf's Castle and the annual Savonlinna Opera Festival. It encircles the municipality of Enonkoski.
Magne Dæhli is a Norwegian orienteering competitor,ski-orienteer,and cross-country skier. His achievements include five medals in the relay at the World Orienteering Championships,of which three are gold medals. His best individual performances include a silver medal in the long distance from the European Orienteering Championships,and a bronze medal in the middle distance from the 2019 World Orienteering Championships.

Matti Keskinarkaus is a Finnish ski-orienteering and mountain bike orienteering competitor. He is ski-O world champion and winner of the overall ski-O world cup year 2001.
Olga Shevchenko is a Russian ski-orienteering competitor and world champion. She won a gold medal in the relay event at the World Ski Orienteering Championships in Moscow in 2007,together with Natalia Tomilova and Tatiana Vlasova. She received a bronze medal in the long distance in Levi in 2005.
Olga Novikova is a Kazakhstani ski-orienteering competitor. She was born in Kazakhstan,and later moved to Russia. She is Junior World Champion from 2004. She won a silver medal at the World Ski Orienteering Championships in 2007,competing for Russia. Competing for Kazakhstan,she placed third overall in the World Cup in 2010,and won four gold medals at the 2011 Asian Winter Games.

Staffan Tunis in Vöråis a Finnish ski-orienteering competitor. He received a silver medal in the middle distance and a bronze medal in the sprint at the 2007 World Ski Orienteering Championships. He finished 5th with the Finnish relay team at the 2007 world championships.
Arto Lilja is a Finnish ski-orienteering competitor. He won a bronze medal in the middle distance at the 2004 World Ski Orienteering Championships. He placed third in the overall World Cup in 2003.
Anne Benjaminsen is a Finnish ski-orienteering competitor and World Champion.
Tove Alexandersson is a Swedish foot orienteer,ski orienteer,skyrunner,trail runner and ski mountaineer. She has won a total of 19 gold medals at the World Orienteering Championships and 10 gold medals at the World Ski Orienteering Championships. In 2018,she won the Sky Marathon event at the Skyrunning World Championships,in her second skyrunning race ever. In 2021,she won the combined discipline at the World Championships of Ski Mountaineering,and in 2023 she won a silver medal in the up and down discipline at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships. She competes for Stora Tuna OK in orienteering and Alfta-Ösa OK in ski orienteering. Alexandersson holds the record for the number of gold medals in a row at the World Orienteering Championships,winning 11 in a row between 2018 and 2022.
Judith Wyder is a Swiss orienteering and ski orienteering competitor and runner. Her achievements include gold medals at the World Orienteering Championships and the European Orienteering Championships,both individually and with the Swiss relay team.
