Anne Margrethe Hausken Nordberg (born 23 January 1976) [2] is a Norwegian orienteering competitor, World champion and European champion. She took the overall victory in the 2008 World Cup. [3]
Hausken finished second in sprint at the 2005 World Orienteering Championships in Aichi, behind Simone Niggli-Luder. [4] She received a silver medal in the relay event at the 2005 World Championships (with Marianne Andersen and Marianne Riddervold), and a bronze medal in 2007 (with Ingunn Hultgreen Weltzien and Marianne Andersen). At the 2008 World Championships in Olomouc she received a gold medal in the Sprint event, before Minna Kauppi and Helena Jansson. This was Hausken's first gold medal at the world championships.
She finished third in the Overall World Cup 2005, and first in 2008.
Hausken had great success in the 2008 European Orienteering Championships in Ventspils, where she won two individual gold medals. [5] In the sprint distance (2.5 km) she defeated Heli Jukkola by a margin of only 3 seconds. In the long distance (11 km) she finished first with Tatiana Ryabkina on second and Emma Engstrand third place. She has a bronze medal in sprint from the 2002 championships in Sümeg.
With the two victories from Ventspils, Hausken got a flying start in the World Cup in 2008. In the next event, the middle distance at the O-festivalen in Siggerud, she again finished first. [6] This was her first major win in the middle course. The next day's long distance was a pursuit race where she was passed by Minna Kauppi but finished second, only a few seconds behind Kauppi. [7] With 417 points and victories in three of the first five races she was ranked first in the WC 2008. [3] [8] Further five wins secured her the overall victory in the 2008 World Cup, with a total of 917 points. Behind her came Minna Kauppi, second with 747 points, and Helena Jansson, overall third with 430 points.
Hausken, grown up in Karmøy, has represented her "home" club Torvastad IL, and later Bækkelagets SK. After suffering from overtraining, she abandoned training for two years (1999 and 2000), but returned to the sport in 2001. [9] She currently competes for Nydalens SK.
Hausken was Junior world champion in ski-orienteering in relay in 1996 together with Kristin Tolstad Uggen and Stine Hjermstad Kirkevik, and received an individual silver medal in the classic distance. [10]
In 2011 Hausken defended her doctorate thesis, Epidemiology of anxiolytic and hypnotic drug use in the general population in Norway. [11]
The Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) are an annual orienteering competition. They were first held in 1990. Entry is open to national teams aged 20 and below as of 31 December in the year of competition. Representative countries must be members of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF).
Pasi Ikonen was a Finnish orienteering competitor, winner of the middle distance at the 2001 World Orienteering Championships. His other achievements include two individual silver medals at the world championships, and medals at the World Games and the European championships.
Minna Kauppi is a Finnish orienteer, who was born in Asikkala and lives in Lahti. Kauppi is a nine-time World Champion, including five golds from relays. Kauppi is the most successful Finnish orienteer of all time when ranked by number of gold medals at the World Orienteering Championships. Kauppi was named Finnish Sports Personality of the Year in 2010.
Daniel Hubmann is a Swiss orienteering competitor. Hubmann is the most successful male Swiss orienteer of all time, with 9 Gold medals at the World Orienteering Championships. In 2023, with his victory in the relay at the 2023 World Orienteering Championships, Hubmann became the oldest competitor to win a gold medal at the World Orienteering Championships, at the age of 40 years and 61 days. Hubmann is currently the third most successful male orienteer of all time, behind Thierry Gueorgiou and Olav Lundanes, and has won more medals in total than any other male orienteer.
Marianne Andersen is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. She has won twelve individual medals in the world and European championships, as well as winning nine national championships. In 2017 she won a silver medal in the middle distance after seven years without a medal.
Anders Nordberg is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. He received a bronze medal at the 2004 World Orienteering Championship, and again a bronze medal in 2007. He finished second in the overall World Cup 2007.
Merja Rantanen is a Finnish orienteering competitor. She received a silver medal in the middle distance at the 2008 European Orienteering Championships in Ventspils. She also participated on the Finnish team that achieved a bronze medal in the championship relay.
Lina Persson is a Swedish orienteering competitor and European champion. She received a gold medal in the relay event at the 2008 European Orienteering Championships in Ventspils, together with Emma Engstrand and Helena Jansson. She qualified for the finals and finished 10th in the long distance and 12th in the middle distance at the 2008 European championships.
Ingunn Hultgreen Weltzien is a Norwegian orienteering competitor and cross-country skier.
Marianne Riddervold is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. She received a silver medal in the relay event at the 2005 World Orienteering Championships in Aichi, together with Marianne Andersen and Anne Margrethe Hausken.
Olav Lundanes is a Norwegian orienteering competitor, hailing from Ålesund. He has won gold medal at the World Orienteering Championships ten times and the European Orienteering Championships four times. He competes for Halden SK.
Mari Fasting is a Norwegian orienteering competitor and ski mountaineer. She is a two-time Junior World Orienteering Champion. She represents the club NTNUI of Trondheim, and is related to the ski mountaineer Ola Berger.
Øystein Kvaal Østerbø is a Norwegian orienteering and ski-orienteering competitor. He finished overall third in the Orienteering World Cup in 2004, and won a silver medal in the relay in the 2004 World Ski Orienteering Championships. He has competed in all fifteen World Orienteering Championships since his debut in 2004 until 2018, obtaining his first two medals in Inverness in 2015; in the relay and mixed sprint relay, respectively. His best individual achievements are fourth places in the sprint in 2005 and 2010.
Betty Ann Bjerkreim Nilsen is a Norwegian orienteering competitor and cross-country skier. She was a junior World Champion in both sports. At senior level she has won a gold medal in relay at the World Orienteering Championships.
Martin Johansson is a Swedish orienteering, ski-orienteering, and cross-country skiing competitor, a medallist at the orienteering world championships, and a 2004 Junior World Champion in relay. He received bronze medals in sprint at the World Orienteering Championships in Kyiv 2007 and Olomouc 2008. His brother, Lars, is a member of the Rockford Icehogs

Heidi Østlid Bagstevold is a Norwegian orienteering competitor.
Nadiya Volynska is a Ukrainian orienteering competitor. At the World Games in 2013 she won a bronze medal in the middle distance, behind Minna Kauppi and Tove Alexandersson, and ahead of Anne Margrethe Hausken Nordberg. Since then, Volynska has specialised in Sprint Orienteering. She now has 3 silver medals at major championships.
