Heli Jukkola (born 26 November 1979 in Noormarkku) [1] is a Finnish orienteering competitor. She won the Long Distance World Orienteering Championships in 2007, [2] and achieved second place in 2005. [3] In the Middle Distance category, she finished second in 2007 and third in both 2003 and 2004. Jukkola is a two-time Relay World Champion, winning in 2006 and 2007 as a member of the Finnish team. She also earned a silver medal in 2004. [2] [3]
Simone Niggli-Luder is a Swiss orienteering athlete who has twice won all four women's competitions at the world championships. She is widely seen as one of the greatest orienteers of all time.
Thierry Gueorgiou is a French orienteer who has won more than 20 gold medals in international competitions, including the World Orienteering Championships (WOC) middle distance event eight times: 2003–2005, 2007–2009, 2011 and 2017. In November 2016 it was announced he will become the Swedish national team head coach following the 2017 World Championships. From October 2021 he has been the head coach of Finnish national orienteering team.
Jani Lakanen is a Finnish orienteering competitor, winner of the 2006 World Orienteering Championships.
Pasi Ikonen is a Finnish orienteering competitor, winner of the 2001 World Orienteering Championships, Short distance, and also silver on the Sprint distance same year. In France 2011, he won silver on the long distance. He also has a Relay bronze medal from 2007.
Outi Borgenström is a Finnish orienteering competitor. She won the 1979 Individual World Orienteering Championships, and took bronze medal 1974. She is also Relay World Champion, as a member of the Finnish winning team 1978.
Kirsi Boström is a Finnish orienteering competitor and World champion. She won the 1999 Classic distance World Orienteering Championships. She won a gold medal at the 1995 World Orienteering Championships in Detmold with the Finnish relay team. She received silver medals with the relay team in 1993 and in 1999 (Inverness).
Vroni König-Salmi is a Swiss orienteering competitor. She won the 2001 Sprint distance World Orienteering Championships, and is two times Relay World Champion, from 2003 and 2005, as member of the Swiss winning teams. Also an individual bronze medal from 2005, and Relay bronze medals from 1997 and 2006. Married to Finnish orienteer Janne Salmi.
Paula Haapakoski is a Finnish orienteering competitor. She is two times Relay World Champion, from 2006 and 2007, as member of the Finnish winning teams in the World Orienteering Championships.
Anne Margrethe Hausken Nordberg is a Norwegian orienteering competitor, World champion and European champion. She took the overall victory in the 2008 World Cup.
Marika Mikkola is a Finnish orienteering competitor and World champion. She won a gold medal at the 2001 World Orienteering Championships in Tampere and a silver medal in Västerås 2004 with the Finnish relay team. She also received an individual silver medal in 2001 and bronze medal in 2004 in the long distance event. Marika's clubs have been Reima-34, Espoon Suunta, Angelniemen Ankkuri, Bækkelagets SK, Espoon Suunta and Kalevan Rasti.
Johanna Asklöf is a Finnish orienteering competitor and World champion.
Eija Koskivaara is a Finnish orienteering competitor and World champion. She won a gold medal at the 1995 World Orienteering Championships in Detmold with the Finnish relay team. She received a silver medal with the relay team in 1993, and a bronze medal in 1989 (Skaraborg). She received an individual bronze medal at the 1993 World Championships and a silver medal at the 1995 World Championships.
Annika Viilo is a Finnish orienteering competitor and world champion. She won a gold medal at the 1995 World Orienteering Championships in Detmold with the Finnish relay team. She received a silver medal on the Classic distance at the 1993 World Championships in West Point, and also a silver medal with the relay team, and she received a bronze medal with the relay team in 1989 (Skaraborg).
Liisa Anttila is a Finnish orienteering and ski-orienteering champion.
Sylvi Riitta Saimo was a Finnish sprint canoeist. She was the first female Finnish Olympic Champion at the Summer Olympics, winning a gold medal in K-1 500 m at the 1952 Summer Olympics. She also competed in cross-country skiing, athletics and orienteering. She was a member of the Finnish Parliament from 1966 to 1978.
Sanna Nymalm is a Finnish orienteering competitor. She received a silver medal in the relay event at the 1999 World Orienteering Championships in Inverness, together with Reeta-Mari Kolkkala, Kirsi Tiira and Johanna Asklöf. She finished 4th in the short distance at the 1999 World Championship.
Mika Tervala is a Finnish mountain bike orienteering competitor, World Champion and European Champion. He won individual gold medals at the 2002, 2006 and 2007 World Championships, and a gold medal in the relay in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Mika coaches the Finnish national mountain bike orienteering teams since spring 2008.
Päivi Tommola is a Finnish mountain bike orienteering competitor, World Champion and European Champion. She won individual gold medals at the 2002 and 2005 World Championships, and gold medals in the relay in 2002, 2004 and 2007.
Michaela Gigon is an Austrian mountain bike orienteer and several times world champion. She has competed at all World MTB Orienteering Championships from 2002 to 2010, won individual gold medals in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010, and in relay in 2009.
Christine Schaffner is a Swiss mountain bike orienteer and world champion. She has participated in all seven World MTB Orienteering Championships from 2004 to 2010, and won gold medals in the long distance four times, in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
