Harish Chandra Singh Bisht, PVSM, AVSM, ADC is a former Flag Officer of the Indian Navy. He is an alumnus of the Sainik School Ghorakhal, Nainital; National Defence Academy Khadakvasla, Pune and the Naval Academy, Kochi and served as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command until his retirement on 31 October 2017. Bisht went to school at Sainik School Ghorakhal, Nainital and is a graduate of the Royal Naval Staff College, Greenwich (UK). He also attended the Naval Higher Command Course at the College of Naval Warfare, Karanja, Mumbai in 2001 and completed the 47th NDC course at New Delhi in 2007.
He is also an alumnus of the National Defence Academy.
Bisht was commissioned in the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer on 1 July 1979.
He was promoted to Flag rank on 28 January 2008 and took over the appointment of Assistant Controller of Carrier Projects at IHQ, MoD (N). His further Flag rank appointments include Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command and Flag Officer Sea Training at Kochi, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, at Visakhapatnam and Assistant Chief of Personnel (HRD) at IHQ, MoD (N).
He was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral on 1 September 2012 and took over the appointment of the Controller Personnel Services (CPS) at IHQ, MoD (N). On 1 February 2015, he was appointed the Director General of Indian Coast Guard (DGICG). [5] On 27 February 2016, he was appointed the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command. [3] [6]
He was awarded PVSM for his service in 2017. [7]
Bisht retired from service on 31 October 2017. [8]
The Southern Naval Command is one of the three, command-level formations of the Indian Navy. Southern Naval Command is the largest naval command in India and it has its headquarters in Kochi, Kerala at INS Venduruthy. It is the Training Command of the Indian Navy.

Previously, he served as the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, Controller of Personnel Services at Naval HQ and as the Chief of Staff of the Eastern Naval Command.
Vice Admiral Murlidhar Sadashiv Pawar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM is a retired officer of the Indian Navy. He served as the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff. He assumed office from Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar on 30 January 2019 and served till 31 May 2021 till his retirement. He is succeeded by Vice Admiral Ravneet Singh. Prior to this appointment, he served as chief of staff, Eastern Naval Command.
Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain PVSM, AVSM, VSM is a retired Indian naval officer who served as the 2nd Vice Chief of Defence Staff of India. He assumed the position on 28 February 2021. Previously, he served as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy.
Vice Admiral G. Ashok Kumar PVSM, AVSM, VSM is a retired Flag Officer in the Indian Navy, who is currently appointed as the first National Maritime Security Coordinator. He works within the National Security Council Secretariat under the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. He served as the 35th Vice Chief of the Naval Staff. He assumed the position on 30 January 2019 from Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar who took over the Western Naval Command. He retired on 31 July 2021 after 39 years of service. He is succeeded by Vice Admiral Satish Namdeo Ghormade.

Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet (FOCEF) is the title of the Indian Navy Officer who commands the Eastern Fleet, headquartered in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The FOCEF is a Two Star Officer holding the rank of Rear Admiral. The current FOCEF is Rear Admiral Susheel Menon, who assumed office on 21 August 2024.

The Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) is a training organisation in the Indian Navy. FOST is the authority responsible for the operational sea training of all personnel of Indian Naval and Coast Guard ships and submarines. The organisation was instituted in 1992 and is the common authority to maintain battle efficiency standards. It also provides training to navies and maritime security forces of friendly foreign countries (FFC). Headquartered in Kochi, the FOST operates under the control of the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Naval Command.
