Harlem Blues is an album by American jazz pianist Phineas Newborn Jr. recorded in 1969 but not released on the Contemporary label until 1975. [1] The album was recorded at the same sessions that produced Please Send Me Someone to Love .
The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow states "The superb trio (pianist Phineas Newborn, bassist Ray Brown and drummer Elvin Jones) had never played together before but it didn't matter. They had little trouble finding common ground. The virtuosic pianist (still in peak form) leads the way". [2]

The Real McCoy is the seventh album by jazz pianist McCoy Tyner and his first released on the Blue Note label. It was recorded on April 21, 1967 following Tyner's departure from the John Coltrane Quartet and features performances by Tyner with tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson, bassist Ron Carter and drummer Elvin Jones. Producer Alfred Lion recalls the recording session as a "pure jazz session. There is absolutely no concession to commercialism, and there's a deep, passionate love for the music embedded in each of the selections".

It would be Tyner's last effort for the label, before signing with Blue Note.

Unusually, Tyner plays harpsichord and celesta along with piano.
