Harpalus obnixus is a species of ground beetle in the subfamily Harpalinae. [1] It was described by Casey in 1924. [1]

Harpalus, son of Machatas, was a Macedonian aristocrat and childhood friend of Alexander the Great in the 4th century BC. Harpalus was repeatedly entrusted with official duties by Alexander and absconded with large sums of money on three occasions. Alexander appointed him treasurer of his empire in Babylon in 330 BC. In 324 BC he fled from Babylon to Athens with a large sum of money. The resulting political controversy in Athens was a contributing factor in the Lamian War.
Joseph Edward Casey was a United States representative from Massachusetts. Born in Clinton, he attended the public schools, served as a private in the United States Army at Fort Lee, Virginia, in 1918, and graduated from the Boston University School of Law in 1920. He was admitted to the bar that year and commenced practice in Clinton. He was a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions in 1924, 1932, 1936, 1940, and 1944, and was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fourth and to the three succeeding Congresses. He was not a candidate for renomination in 1942 to the Seventy-eighth Congress and was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States Senate. He resumed the practice of law in Boston and in Washington, D.C., where he resided until his death. Interment was in Arlington National Cemetery, Section 1, Lot 761-B.
Thomas Ray Casey, better known as Tom "Citation" Casey played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Western Interprovincial Football Union from 1950 to 1956, during which time he led the league in rushing yards and was named a divisional all-star each year. He was elected into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1964, the first African American to be inducted. He also played one year for the Hamilton Wildcats in 1949. He was named to the All-Time Blue Bomber Greats 75th Anniversary team.
