The Harrier LR10 is a sports prototype race car designed and built by Harrier Cars. Intended to be the company's successor to the Harrier LR9C platform of grand tourer-style race cars, the LR10 was accepted as an entrant to the 2000 24 Hours of Le Mans but was withdrawn during testing. The car attempted three races in its history but never successfully completed a full race distance.
After a naming rights dispute between Ford, longtime designer Lester Ray, and company owner Richard Austin, the preceding Harrier LR9C was retired from competition at the conclusion of the 1998 British GT Championship. [1] After Austin and lead designer Phil Bourne left the company to independently develop the GT1 class Sintura S99, Harrier proceeded to develop the new LR10 as a Le Mans Prototype race car. Designed with wind tunnel assistance from MIRA in Warwickshire, [2] the resulting open-top race car was powered by a twin turbocharged 3.8L Porsche flat six engine. After an initial shakedown at Goodwood Circuit with driver Thomas Erdos, [2] the LR10 was entered into the 2000 24 Hours of Le Mans with driver Gérard MacQuillan listed as the entrant. [3] Despite appearing on track at Le Sarthe during official pre-race testing with MacQuillan and Gary Ayles as drivers, [4] the car was eventually withdrawn and did not race. [2]
After withdrawing from Le Mans following April testing, the LR10 appeared on the entry list for the seventh round of the 2000 SportsRacing World Cup at Donnington Park in late August. Entered by Harrier Cars themselves with drivers Ben Collins, Michael Vergers, and Richard Jones, the car qualified twelfth overall and retired on the first lap with alternator issues. [5] A final race attempt was made at the penultimate round at Magny-Cours, where the car received a grid slot without setting a qualifying time but failed to start due to an engine fire. [6] After these entries, the car never appeared in active competition again.
Notably, despite entering competition in 2000 as an open-top sports prototype, a single closed-top GT1 specification chassis of the LR10 was built. [7] Fitted with the sponsorship and class-designation stickers mandated by the regulations of the 1999 British GT Championship, the un-raced GT1 variant seemingly failed to materialize as a direct competitor to the breakaway effort of the newly independent Sintura.

The 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 67th 24 Hours of Le Mans, and took place on 12 and 13 June 1999. The race had a large number of entries in the fastest Le Mans Prototype classes, with Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lola Cars, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Panoz, Riley & Scott, and Toyota all represented.
The Toyota GT-One is a racing car initially developed for Group GT1 rules, but later adapted into an LMGTP car. It raced in the 1998 and 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The Mercedes-Benz CLK LM was a Group GT1 sports car designed and built by Mercedes-Benz in partnership with AMG to compete in the FIA GT Championship. To satisfy the requirements of competing in the FIA GT Championship, a road-legal version had to be built to homologate the car. That car was known as the Mercedes-Benz CLK LM Straßenversion, and Mercedes-Benz assembled two chassis, one of which was destroyed for crash-testing. The CLK LM went on to win every single championship event in the 1998 FIA GT season, retiring only at the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans, which was a non-championship event. The removal of the GT1 class from the FIA GT Championship due to the lack of entrants and rising costs meant that Mercedes' GT1 program was brought to a close at the end of 1998. Mercedes instead focussed their efforts on the newly introduced LMGTP class for the 1999 season, which produced the Mercedes-Benz CLR.
The Nissan R391 is a prototype racing car built by Nissan and their motorsports counterpart Nismo for competition at the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was a replacement for the R390 GT1, which was no longer legal in its production-based class.
Peter Harry Sutcliffe, a British textile manufacturer from Huddersfield, was active in sports car racing until 1967. Between 1959 and 1967 he won the 1964 Prix de Paris at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry, and the 1965 Pietermaritzburg 3 hours. He raced in Aston Martins, Jaguar D-Type and E types, Shelby Cobra Daytona, Ford GT40s and works Ferrari 330P4s.
The March 86G was a Group C and IMSA GTP sports racing car built by March Engineering. Built as simply a chassis with no engine, it was branded as one of three cars, the BMW GTP, the Buick Hawk or the Nissan R86V depending on which engine was placed in the chassis and which team was running it. There were a number of subtle bodywork changes to reflect the manufacturer which ran the car.
The Oreca 07 is a Le Mans Prototype built by French manufacturer Oreca to meet the 2017 FIA and ACO LMP2 regulations. It made its official race debut in the opening round of the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the 24 Hours of Daytona, and its FIA World Endurance Championship debut at the 2017 6 Hours of Silverstone. The car is the successor to the Oreca 05.
The Ligier JS P320 is an LMP3 Le Mans Prototype. It was created by Onroak Automotive, and named in partnership with former French driver Guy Ligier. It was built to meet ACO Generation II LMP3 standards, and can be built through an update kit for its predecessor, the Ligier JS P3. The car is set to be eligible in a series of Championships worldwide, such as the Michelin Le Mans Cup, Prototype Cup Germany, Asian Le Mans Series, European Le Mans Series, IMSA Prototype Challenge and IMSA SportsCar Championship. The car was launched on 4 June 2019, and was the first Gen II LMP3 to be revealed.
Auguste Veuillet, known as Toto Veuillet, was a French racing driver and founder of Sonauto, France's first importer of Porsche cars and Yamaha motorcycles. He drove Porsche's first Le Mans entry and took their first two class wins along with Edmond Mouche.
The Cunningham C-4R was a sports car developed in 1952 for the Briggs Cunningham racing team. It won 10 races between 1952 and 1956, including 8 race wins in its class, and scored an impressive 16 podium finishes.
