Haryana State Akali Dal (or HSAD) is a Sikh political party in India, a splinter group of the Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal that sided with Gurcharan Singh Tohra on the Ranjit Singh issue. HSAD was formed on 23 May 1999 on similar lines as Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi. Five out of eleven Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee members from Haryana state joined HSAD. The HSAD general secretary is Kartar Singh Takkar.

Simranjit Singh Mann is a politician and a former police officer from Punjab. He is the president of the political party, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar). Mann is a two time MP from Taran Tarn in 1989 and Sangrur in 1999. He has been arrested or detained some 30 times but he has never been convicted.

Master Tara Singh was an Indian Sikh political and religious leader in the first half of the 20th century. Although there are many parties with the description Akali Dal, generally the party that is recognised as "Shiromani Akali Dal" by the Election Commission of India is the one led by Sukhbir Singh Badal. It controls Sikh religious bodies, the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee and the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and it is the largest and most influential Sikh political party worldwide. The basic philosophy of Akali Dal was to give a political voice to Sikh issues and it believed that religion and politics go hand in hand but after the 1996 Moga Conference the party adopted a moderate Punjabi secular agenda.
