Datuk Hashim Suboh is a Malaysian politician from the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (UMNO), party of the Perikatan Nasional coalition. He is the former Deputy Chief of the party's Kangar division. Hashim made headlines in Malaysia in 2006 when he made a number of controversial remarks at the UMNO General Assembly that some labelled as seditious. [1]

He currently is a member of Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU).
In 2005,Education Minister and UMNO Youth Chief Hishammuddin Hussein brandished a kris (Malay dagger) at the UMNO General Assembly. The kris,named Panca Warisan,made another appearance at the 2006 General Assembly. On both occasions,it had been used in the context of defending certain special privileges accorded to the Malays under the Constitution of Malaysia. These privileges,sometimes referred to as the Malay Agenda,formed half of the Malaysian social contract,which granted citizenship to non-Malay Malaysians in return for special rights for the Malays. (Such special rights feature heavily in the ideal of ketuanan Melayu or Malay supremacy,which is a feature of UMNO's ideology.)
It was after the second instance of Hishammuddin's actions that Hashim made headlines,when Hashim,speaking as a UMNO delegate from the state of Perlis,asked:"Datuk Hisham has unsheathed his keris,waved his keris,kissed his keris. We want to ask Datuk Hisham when is he going to use it?" He continued that "force must be used against those who refused to abide by the social contract",insisting that Hishammuddin be tougher in dealing with the Chinese national-type schools,which though publicly funded,are generally independent of the public national school system. Hashim's remark provoked a response from the opposition Democratic Action Party,which accused him of creating "concern and disquiet among non-Malays in the country. The statements amount to sedition as they have a seditious tendency". [2]
The original Malay remark was:"Dalam Perhimpunan Agung Umno ini,Datuk Hishammuddin dua kali berturut-turut angkat keris. Jadi,kita nak tanya bila Datuk Hishammuddin nak bertikam pulak?" [3] Translated literally,this would read:"At this UMNO General Assembly,Datuk Hishammuddin has twice raised the keris,So,we want to ask when Datuk Hishammuddin will stab instead?".
Hashim was later reprimanded for his statement by UMNO. [4] He stated that he was surprised at the backlash,and that:
I used the kris as a metaphor and not in its literal meaning. I was speaking about how the Education Minister should take proactive action towards certain issues relating to schools. ... Next year, I will choose my metaphors and words more carefully. I don’t want to leave room for any misinterpretation. [5]

Syed Hamid bin Syed Jaafar Albar is a Malaysian lawyer and politician who has served as 1st Chancellor of the Asia e University (AeU) since October 2022. He served as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Minister of Justice, Minister of Defence, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Home Affairs in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Ministers Mahathir Mohamad and Abdullah Ahmad Badawi from October 1990 to April 2009. He also served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Kota Tinggi from November 1990 to May 2013. He was a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) and formerly Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalitions. Prior to that, he was also a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the ruling BN coalition. He retired from politics in February 2022 and left UMNO for BERSATU in September 2018. He had also served as the Chairman of Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) which was already dissolved.
Dato' Sri Mustapa bin Mohamed, commonly known as Tok Pa among local Kelantanese, is a Malaysian former politician who served as the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department for Economic Affairs for third term in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob from August 2021 to the collapse of the BN administration in November 2022, second term in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin from March 2020 to August 2021 and first term in the BN administration under former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi from March 2004 to February 2006 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jeli from March 2004 to November 2022. He was a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) and formerly Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalitions and the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the BN coalition. He left UMNO for BERSATU in 2018, left BERSATU and retired from politics in 2023.
Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein is a Malaysian politician and lawyer who served as Senior Minister of the Security Cluster and Minister of Defence from 2021 to 2022. A member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, he has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Sembrong since 2004, having previously been an MP for Tenggara from 1995 to 2004.
Ketuanan Melayu is a political concept that emphasises Malay preeminence in present-day Malaysia. The Malays of Malaysia have claimed a special position and special rights owing to their longer history in the area and the fact that the present Malaysian state itself evolved from a Malay polity. The oldest political institution in Malaysia is the system of Malay rulers of the nine Malay states. The British colonial authorities transformed the system and turned it first into a system of indirect rule, then in 1948, using this culturally based institution, they incorporated the Malay monarchy into the blueprints for the independent Federation of Malaya.
The social contract in Malaysia is a political construct first brought up in the 1980s, allegedly to justify the continuation of the discriminatory preferential policies for the majority Bumiputera at the expense of the non-Bumiputera, particularly the Chinese and Indian citizens of the country. Generally describing the envisaged 20-year initial duration of the Malaysian New Economic Policy, proponents of the construct allege that it reflects an "understanding" arrived at – prior to Malaya's independence in 1957 – by the country's "founding fathers", which is an ill-defined term generally taken to encompass Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia's first Prime Minister, as well as V. T. Sambanthan and Tan Cheng Lock, who were the key leaders of political parties representing the Malay, Indian and Chinese populations respectively in pre-independence Malaya.

Dato' Azimi bin Daim is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Kedah State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under former Menteris Besar Syed Razak Syed Zain Barakbah and Mahdzir Khalid and Member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bandar Baharu from March 2004 to March 2008. Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Shafie bin Apdal is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Semporna since April 1995, State Leader of the Opposition of Sabah since September 2020 and Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Senallang since May 2018. He served as the 15th Chief Minister and the State Minister of Finance of Sabah from May 2018 to September 2020, Minister of Rural and Regional Development from April 2009 to July 2015 and Vice-President of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He has served as the 1st and founding President of Heritage Party (WARISAN) since October 2016. He lost the power as Chief Minister of Sabah following the defeat of his coalition WARISAN + in the 2020 state election.
Hasnoor Sidang Hussein is a Malaysian politician from the ruling United Malays National Organisation (UMNO). He became prominent in 2006 for his controversial remarks at the UMNO Annual General Assembly as a delegate from Malacca on the subject of racial issues. He later became the first, together with Azimi Daim and Hashim Suboh, to be officially reprimanded by UMNO for a speech made at an UMNO Annual General Assembly.
Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi is a Malaysian politician who has served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development since December 2022. A member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), he has served as its leader and the chairman of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition since May 2018. Zahid has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bagan Datuk since April 1995. He is also the first president of UMNO, after Malaya independence, not being elected as Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Datuk Haji Abdul Rahim bin Bakri is a Malaysian politician who served as the Deputy Minister of Finance I in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz from March 2020 to August 2021, Deputy Minister of Defence, Deputy Minister of Transport, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Ministers Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Najib Razak and former Ministers Rais Yatim, Ong Tee Keat, Kong Cho Ha and Hishammuddin Hussein from March 2008 to May 2013 and Member of Parliament (MP) for Kudat from March 2008 to November 2022. Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar bin Radin is a Malaysian politician and lawyer who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kinabatangan since November 1999 and Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Lamag since September 2020. Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa, is a Malay supremacist non-governmental organisation (NGO) that was formed by Ibrahim Ali in the aftermath of the 2008 general election (GE12). This conservative, extreme-right, ethnic Malay organisation is led by its president Ibrahim Ali to influence the unity of Malaysian by refusing to accept any decoration of other ethnic group except Malay decoration. The group is reported to have a membership of 700,000.

Dato' Seri Dr. Awang Adek bin Hussin is a Malaysian politician and diplomat. He is the former Malaysian Ambassador to the United States. He was the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the Bachok constituency in Kelantan for one term from 2004 to 2008. Datuk Dr. Awang Adek bin Hussin is no longer an active politician he once was. He had relinquished all his party positions after the General Election in 2018. He remains active as an ordinary party member and is no longer active in party politics. Since 2018, his involvements focused mainly on corporate activities and has been chairmen on a few boards.
Hashim bin Jasin is a Malaysian politician from the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. He has served as the 4th Spiritual Leader of PAS since October 2016 after the death of his predecessor Haron Din in September 2016 and its State Commissioner of Perlis from 1991 to 2013. Besides, he served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Arau after his victory in the 1998 Arau by-elections until the 1999 general election in November 1999 and Member of the Perlis State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Sanglang from November 1999 to the 2013 General election in May 2013.
Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Kadir bin Sheikh Fadzir is a Malaysian politician and former seven-term Member of Parliament (MP) of Malaysia representing Kulim-Bandar Baharu constituency in the state of Kedah. He also formerly served as the Minister of Information (2004–2006), Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism (1999–2004) in the Cabinet of Malaysia.
Datuk Wira Mohd Anuar bin Mohd Tahir is a Malaysian politician who served as Deputy Minister of Works in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and former Minister Baru Bian from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020 and Member of Parliament (MP) for Temerloh from May 2018 to November 2022. He also served as the 1st and founding Secretary-General of AMANAH from September 2015 to December 2019.
