Hauge or Hauge i Dalane (pronounced Haua in the local dialect) is the administrative center of Sokndal municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located along the river Sokno, between the coastal villages of Rekefjord and Sogndalsstranda. Sokndal Church is located in the village. [3]

The 1.64-square-kilometre (410-acre) village has a population (2019) of 2165 and a population density of 1,320 inhabitants per square kilometre (3,400/sq mi). [1] The origin of the name Hauge is from the Old Norse word Haugr meaning "mound". It is often referred to as Hauge i Dalane since there are many villages named Hauge in Norway, and this one is located in the Dalane district, so this means Hauge in Dalane.

Trivia

In an unceremonious SMS-vote competition dubbed "the dialectical games" ("dialektiske leker"), hosted by NRK-Rogaland between 20 June and 11 August in 2006, [4] the dialect spoken in Hauge won a narrow victory over the Suldal-dialect as "the most beautiful dialect in Rogaland", receiving 2,816 of the total 5,577 votes in the final round. [5]

Jøssingfjorden is a fjord in Sokndal municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The 3-kilometre (1.9 mi) long fjord is narrow and deep and is surrounded by mountains. It sits about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) southeast of the municipal centre of Hauge. There is some settlement on the southeastern side of the fjord: the villages of Li, Vinterstø, and Bu. There is a road that runs along the southeast coast of the fjord, with sharp hairpin turns leading down from the mountains to the shore of the fjord both heading north and south from the fjord.

It is located in the village of Åna-Sira, on the northwest shore of the river Sira on the border with Agder county. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1888 using designs by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 100 people. The church was consecrated on 16 March 1888.

The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform design and in a Louis XVI style in 1803 using designs by an unknown architect. The church seats about 800 people.
