Hayden Jones (born 30 August 2006) is an Australian tennis player. He made his Grand Slam debut in the mixed doubles at the 2025 Australian Open playing alongside his sister, Emerson Jones. [2]

Early life

Jones previously trained at the National Tennis Academy in Queensland [3] and currently trains at the KDV Tennis Academy on the Gold Coast. [4]

Career

He reached the semi-finals of the 2023 US Open boys' doubles with his partner Alexander Razeghi, their run including a win over Henry Searle and Tomasz Berkieta. [5] [6]

Jones received a wildcard into the men's qualifying draw for the 2024 Australian Open in January 2024. [7] Competing in the Boys' singles event, he won his first round match against American Jagger Leach, [8] and he reached the quarterfinals with a three set win over Tomasz Berkieta. [9]

After winning back-to-back singles titles in Thailand in March 2024 he moved to a career-high junior world ranking of No.11. [10]

He received a wildcard into qualifying for the 2025 Australian Open in the Men's singles. [11] He made his grand slam debut in the mixed doubles at that championship playing alongside his sister, Emerson Jones. They lost in straight sets in the first round to experienced pair Hsieh Su-Wei and Jan Zielinski. [12]

Personal life

From the Gold Coast, his mother Loretta Harrop won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in the Triathlon. His father, Brad Jones, played Australian Rules Football for Mount Gravatt Football Club and won the Grogan Medal in 1999. [13] His sister Emerson Jones is also a junior tennis player. [14]

Emerson Jones is an Australian tennis player. She has a career high ITF junior combined ranking of No. 1, achieved on 9 September 2024, becoming the first Australian junior to reach the top spot since Jelena Dokic in 1998.

Olivia Gadecki and John Peers defeated Kimberly Birrell and John-Patrick Smith in the final, 3–6, 6–4, [10–6] to win the mixed doubles tennis title at the 2025 Australian Open. It was the first major mixed doubles title for Gadecki, and second for Peers. They saved a match point en route to the title, in the quarterfinals against Zhang Shuai and Rohan Bopanna. Gadecki and Peers became the first all-Australian team to win the title since Jarmila Wolfe and Matthew Ebden in 2013. For the first time in the Open Era, and first time overall since 1967, two all-Australian pairs contested the final.
