Helix Sleep is a privately held, U.S.-based, e-commerce platform, that sells home goods brands. The company is headquartered in New York City. All mattresses and sofas are manufactured in the US, and the company ships product to the United States and Canada.

History

Helix Sleep was founded by Jerry Lin, Kristian von Rickenbach, and Adam Tishman in 2015. [1] [2] On August 4, 2015, the Helix Sleep website was launched. [2] Prior to the launch, the company raised a seed round investment from angel investors. [2]

The company expanded its delivery service to reach customers in Canada in January 2016. [3]

Helix Sleep raised Series A funding in August 2016. [4] Investors included Double J Capital, Great Oaks VC, Simon Venture Group, WIT, Jonathan Klein, and Jesse Itzler. [4]

The company launched the Birch by Helix brand in May 2019. [5] The Allform brand was launched in May 2020. [6] In November 2021, Helix launched the Helix Kids mattress, a flippable mattress for children aged 2 and up. [7] Helix continued its expansion in 2022 with Helix Plus, a line of mattresses for plus size sleepers with extra support and durability. [8] In April 2023, Helix entered the high-end luxury mattress space with Helix Elite, the brand’s most advanced line of mattresses. [9]

In 2021, Helix Sleep merged with Brooklyn Bedding in partnership with Cerberus Capital Management. [10] The following year, the companies formed 3Z Brands, a new corporate entity encompassing Helix Sleep, Brooklyn Bedding, Birch, Bear Mattress, and their wholesale operations. Products

The Helix Sleep brand gives customers a questionnaire to learn about their height and weight, how they sleep, and how firm their mattresses usually are and uses that data to match users to the perfect mattress. [14] Over 10 million people have taken the Helix mattress quiz. [1]

Helix offers 22 hybrid mattresses based on sleep position (for side, back, and stomach sleepers) and feel (soft, medium, and firm). Mattresses are broken into three primary mattress collections, Core, Luxe, and Elite. [15]

Helix's Midnight Luxe, Twilight Luxe, and Plus mattresses have been endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association. [5]

Helix’s manufacturing facility is located in Phoenix, AZ, where mattresses are designed and assembled. [6]

Helix operates primarily as a direct-to-consumer e-commerce brand, selling through its website. Helix mattresses are also sold in showrooms and select retailers across the US, including Rooms To Go and CB2. [9]
