The film was a box office success and inspired similar films such as Yamalokadalli Veerappan (1998). [3] The film was remade in Telugu under the same name in 1999. [4] The dialogue "Theriyathu Poda" (transl.I don't know, go) became popular. [5] Film publicist K. G. Nagendra who clapped the muhurat shot went on to do the same for other films. [6]
