Henn is an international architecture firm based in Munich, Berlin and Beijing. It draws on expertise in the fields of work space, work culture, education and research, as well as in production and master planning, and is best known for its office buildings and industrial structures. [1] Since 2021, the company has been run by Martin Henn, the grandson of its founder, in conjunction with three other managing directors and seventeen partners. [2] A total of 380 employees work in the fields of architecture, interior design, planning and engineering. [3]
The company was created in 1979 by Gunter Henn in Munich and is the successor to the company of Walter Henn, who was still active as an office partner until 1989 (Henn + Henn Architekten). The company has been operating as Henn GmbH since 2013. Since 2021, Gunter Henn has been a member of the company's advisory board. [2]
Innovation centres and working spaces in the tech and science sectors have been realised for Zalando in Berlin, Merck in Darmstadt, HVB and Osram in Munich, China Life and Taikang Life in Beijing and have attracted global attention. HENN has also built for numerous clients in the automotive sector, such as the BMW FIZ Future in Munich, the VW Autostadt with the Porsche Pavilion [4] in Wolfsburg and the Transparent Factory in Dresden. In the field of education and research, the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin, Roche in Penzberg, the Nanopolis Science City in Suzhou, the ARENA 2036 [5] in Stuttgart, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TUM in Munich and the master plan for the Inselspital in Bern have all had a significant impact on their respective locations. Ongoing projects of the office are the Gasteig in Munich, The Cube [6] in Dresden and the Westlake University in Hangzhou.

Henn GmbH ranks 41 on the list of the 100 architecture firms with the highest global turnover [7] and 17 on the list of European top 50 architecture firms.

The Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany is the official design award for Germany presented by the German Ministry for Economics and Technology. The Cremer & Wolffenstein architecture firm was founded in Germany in 1882 by Richard Wolffenstein (1846–1919) and Wilhelm Cremer (1845–1919) and existed up to the death of its two founders. During the so-called Gründerzeit in Berlin, the years of rapid industrial expansion in Germany at the end of the 19th century, they were a prolific firm in the various aspects of architecture. As one of the largest firms in Berlin at the turn of the century, they designed residential, commercial, transportation, government, and religious buildings. The company was founded in 1965 by Meinhard von Gerkan and Volkwin Marg, and now has more than 300 employees in 13 offices. Their design for the Berlin Tegel Airport was able to win the first prize, thus garnering the company international recognition. This achievement cemented the practice's standing in the world of architecture and paved the way for further success. Hans Günter Merz, better known as HG Merz is a German architect and museum designer. He is the founder and director of hg merz architekten museumsgestalter, an architecture office that specializes in museum and exhibition design and in refurbishing listed buildings. The office has branches in Stuttgart and Berlin.
Allmann Sattler Wappner Architekten is a German architecture firm based in Munich. Established in 1987, it has existed in its current form since 1993. In 1997, Allmann Sattler Wappner Architekten received the German Architecture Award. Among many other buildings they designed the Dornier Museum in Friedrichshafen, the Herz Jesu Church and the Haus der Gegenwart in Munich. According to the firm they currently employ 100 members of staff.
The Wolfsburg Volkswagen Factory is the worldwide headquarters of the Volkswagen Group, and one of the largest manufacturing plants in the world, in terms of area at just under 6.5 million m2 (70 million sq ft). The Wolfsburg plant produced 815,000 cars in 2015. Volkswagen's currywurst is also produced at this facility.
Christoph Sattler is a prolific German architect who has been professionally active since the early 1970s. Most of his more prominent buildings are in southern Germany or Berlin. Although he is known for a number of large high-profile residential developments, he has also attracted widespread critical and public attention with public buildings and structures such as the Seeparkturm in Freiburg, the Kupferstichkabinett in Berlin, various underground stations such as those of Am Hart (Munich) and Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Park (Berlin) and several art galleries including the controversial Gemäldegalerie in Berlin.
