Yuki Kajiura is a Japanese composer, arranger and music producer. She has provided the music for several popular anime series, such as Sword Art Online, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, The Garden of Sinners, Pandora Hearts and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
FictionJunction is the solo project of Japanese composer Yuki Kajiura featuring guests musicians, mainly singers. Historically, works between Kajiura and a vocalist were referenced by adding the singer's name after "FictionJunction". Although both perform under the FJ title and are collaborations with Kajiura, they are separate projects.
Kalafina (カラフィナ) was a Japanese vocal group formed by composer Yuki Kajiura in 2007, mainly to perform theme songs for the anime Kara no Kyōkai, but later expanded to include many other theme songs for other anime shows and films including the Madoka Magica, Black Butler, Arslan Senki andFate/stay nightfranchises. They released five albums that have charted in the top 10 for Oricon. They disbanded in 2018–19.

A second iteration, "Magia (Quattro)", was used as the ending theme for the film adaptation, Puella Magi Madoka Magica Part 1: Beginnings, and was included on the single release of "Hikari Furu" on October 26, 2012. Mary's Blood recorded a heavy metal cover of the song for their 2020 cover album Re>Animator.

She is one of the vocalists of the FictionJunction project started by Yuki Kajiura, and was a core member of the vocal group Kalafina which ran for ten years from 2008 to 2018. She has Italian and Japanese origins, her other name is Matilde.
Wakana Ootaki, who goes by the mononymous stage name Wakana, is a Japanese pop singer. She was one of the vocalists of the FictionJunction project started by Yuki Kajiura, and was a core member of the vocal group Kalafina. She is currently signed with Victor Entertainment with a solo career, having released two albums and an EP that have charted on Oricon.
