Thunder Bay is a city in, and the seat of, Thunder Bay District, Ontario, Canada. It is the most populous municipality in Northwestern Ontario with a population of 107,909 as of the Canada 2016 Census, and the second most populous in Northern Ontario after Greater Sudbury. Located on Lake Superior, the census metropolitan area of Thunder Bay has a population of 121,621, and consists of the city of Thunder Bay, the municipalities of Oliver Paipoonge and Neebing, the townships of Shuniah, Conmee, O'Connor, and Gillies, and the Fort William First Nation.
Lakehead University is a public research university with campuses in Thunder Bay and Orillia, Ontario, Canada. Lakehead University, shortened to 'Lakehead U', or 'LU', is non-denominational and provincially supported. It has undergraduate programs, graduate programs, the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, the only internationally accredited (AACSB) business school in northern Ontario, and is home to the western campus of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
Port Arthur was a city in Northern Ontario, Canada, located on Lake Superior. In January 1970 it amalgamated with Fort William and the townships of Neebing and McIntyre to form the city of Thunder Bay.

Thunder Bay Transit is the public transit operator in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. It was formed in 1970, after the amalgamation of the cities of Port Arthur and Fort William and their respective transit agencies. Thunder Bay Transit is a member of the Canadian Urban Transit Association.
Downtown Fort William, also known as Downtown Thunder Bay South or the South Core, is the urban core of the former city of Fort William, the southern half of Thunder Bay, Ontario. It is centred on Victoriaville Civic Centre, an indoor shopping mall and civic centre built as part of an urban renewal project in the 1980s. It is separated from the Kaministiquia River by the Canadian Pacific Railway line, and its topography is relatively flat.
Port Arthur Collegiate Institute was a collegiate institute operated by the Lakehead District School Board in Thunder Bay, Ontario from 1910 to 2007. The building was designated a historic building in 1984 and is located at the west end of Waverly Park. The school's teams were named "PACI Redmen". Its amenities included a gymnasium, a 200-seat theatre, a large library and a modern music room. The building was granted Historical Heritage Site status in 1983, and was transferred to Lakehead University in 2008. After extensive renovations, the building will become home to Lakehead's new Faculty of Law, welcoming its inaugural class in September 2013.
Northwood is a neighbourhood in the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario. It is one of Thunder Bay's seven municipal wards, represented by Shelby Ch'ng. It was developed between 1965 and 1985. It is bounded by Chapples Park to the east, Arthur Street to the south, the Thunder Bay Expressway to the west and the Harbour Expressway to the north.
The Western Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Company was a shipyard that operated at Port Arthur, Ontario, now part of Thunder Bay, on Lake Superior from 1911 to 1993. The shipyard was established in 1909 and renamed in 1916 as the Port Arthur Shipbuilding Company. The yard closed in 1993. It reopened as a repair yard Lakehead Marine and Industrial, however that venture failed in 2014.

Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute (SCVI) is a high school in Thunder Bay, Ontario and is part of the Lakehead District School Board system. The school opened in September, 2009. It has approximately 600 students. It is also currently, as of Sept 2019, the only school in the Lakehead District School Board that offers the International Baccalaureate program, introduced in Sept 2018 after the shut down of Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate & Vocational Institute.
Hillcrest Park is a public park located in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The Park is located in the city's north end. The Park's location provides scenic views of the city, the harbour, and the Sleeping Giant. Located within the park is a World War II memorial for the Lake Superior Regiment. The memorial includes an honour roll of those killed in action, and a Universal Carrier; a vehicle used by the regiment. Located at the north end of the park is the Sunken Gardens with over 70 varieties of flowers in a unique configuration of walkways and benches.
Susan Andrina Ross CM, was a printmaker, illustrator and painter from Port Arthur, Ontario who is best known for her portraits of Native and Inuit peoples. Her work is valuable both for its artistry and for its historical significance since she captured many images of a passing way of life. In 2002 she was awarded the Order of Canada in the Visual Arts.
The Thunder Bay Tourist Pagoda, built in 1909, was an early tourist bureau promoting the city of Port Arthur, Ontario. Located on the waterfront and close to the former train station, the pagoda was intended to attract the attention of visitors arriving by rail or water. Competition with nearby Fort William was one factor leading to its construction. Another factor was the planned construction of the nearby Prince Arthur Hotel, completed around 1910.
Superior Court of Justice Building, Thunder Bay is a former courthouse built in 1924 by Chief Architect for Ontario Francis R. Heakes. The simple Beaux-Arts building served as a courthouse from 1924 to 2014.. The Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice had operated in separate buildings but relocated to the new Thunder Bay Courthouse in 2014.
Gron Morgan Memorial High School was a public high school located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. It was built to accommodate students from Port Arthur Collegiate Institute, Hillcrest High School and Lakeview High School who wanted to have specifically skilled trades focused educations.The school has since then been named École Gron Morgan Public School and has been an elementary school since the 1995-1996 school year.
