Thunder Bay is a city in and the seat of Thunder Bay District, Ontario, Canada. It is the most populous municipality in Northwestern Ontario and the second most populous municipality in Northern Ontario; its population is 108,843 according to the 2021 Canadian Census. Located on Lake Superior, the census metropolitan area of Thunder Bay has a population of 123,258 and consists of the city of Thunder Bay, the municipalities of Oliver Paipoonge and Neebing, the townships of Shuniah, Conmee, O'Connor, and Gillies, and the Fort William First Nation.

Lakehead University, shortened to 'Lakehead U', is non-denominational and provincially supported. King's Highway 61, commonly referred to as Highway 61 and historically known as the Scott Highway, is a provincially maintained highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. The 61-kilometre (38 mi) route connects the Pigeon River Bridge, where it crosses into the United States and becomes Minnesota State Highway 61, with a junction at Highway 11, Highway 17 and the Harbour Expressway in Thunder Bay. The highway forms part of the Lake Superior Circle Tour.

Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate & Vocational Institute was a high school in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It was part of the Lakehead District School Board system. The school was opened in 1966 and had between 1,100 and 1,500 students enrolled. While students began attending in the fall of '66 the building wasn't actually ready until just before Christmas of that year. Students enrolled in Sir Winston Churchill attended classes in the morning only at nearby Northwood Technical school while Northwood students attended in the afternoon. The school was commonly referred to by the shorter name of SWC. The school is the only one in the city which at one time had a pool, which was later sold to the city. SWC was known for its amazing academics and sport teams. During their last year of football, the senior boys won city championship.
Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate Institute, initially known as Guildwood Secondary School is a high school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the Guildwood neighbourhood in the southern part of the former suburb of Scarborough. It is named in honour of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the seventh Prime Minister of Canada. The school was established by the Scarborough Board of Education, and is now part of the Toronto District School Board. The motto of the school Hoc Tempus est Tibi which translates into English as "This Time is for You".

It is located in the York South-Weston area. It is the second oldest high school in Toronto, after Jarvis Collegiate Institute. Weston CI is located on 100 Pine Street and has a student population of about 1043.

It is part of the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, and its amenities include a chapel, custom-built music rooms, newly renovated auditorium, two gyms, a fully functional cafeteria, and wheelchair accessibility. The schools offers courses in French immersion. Unlike schools in the public system, students at St. Patrick are required to wear uniforms. Its varsity team is the St. Patrick Saints.

Current River is a neighbourhood located north east of Port Arthur in the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario. It is separated from the main urban area of Thunder Bay by the Current River Greenway, a large parkland along the river after which the neighbourhood was named. It is home to approximately 4,780 people and has an ageing and declining population.
Port Arthur Collegiate Institute was a collegiate institute operated by the Lakehead District School Board in Thunder Bay, Ontario from 1910 to 2007. The building was designated a historic building in 1984 and is located at the west end of Waverly Park. The school's teams were named "PACI Redmen". Its amenities included a gymnasium, a 200-seat theatre, a large library and a modern music room. The building was granted Historical Heritage Site status in 1983, and was transferred to Lakehead University in 2008. After extensive renovations, the building became home to Lakehead's Faculty of Law, and welcomed its inaugural class in September 2013.

The school's teams were called the "FWCI Blue Bears". The building was granted Historical Heritage Site status in 1983, and was designated a historic building on May 15, 1983.
