Himanshu Thakur (born 9 January 1994 in Manali, Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh, India [1] [2] ) is an alpine skier from India. He competed for India at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the giant slalom race securing a rank of 72. [3] [4]

Vanessa-Mae, also called Vanessa-Mae Vanakorn Nicholson, is a British violinist with album sales reaching several million, having made her the wealthiest entertainer under 30 in the United Kingdom in 2006. She competed under the name Vanessa Vanakorn for Thailand in alpine skiing at the 2014 Winter Olympics. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Skiing in India</span>

Skiing in India is centered in the northern states of India, where the Himalayas are situated. Skiing is administered by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation in India. The Himalayas provide an excellent skiing experience owing to their great height which allows long descents. Heliskiing is also gaining popularity in places like Manali and Gulmarg. However, skiing in India suffers from lack of infrastructure. The security concerns near the Line of Control have reduced since 2002, which has led to an increase in skiing activity in the region. Some of the most popular skiing locations in India are Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir, Solang in Himachal Pradesh and Auli in Uttarakhand. The skiing season in India is from January to March.

Aanchal Thakur is an Indian alpine skier. She represented India at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria. In Innsbruck, Thakur took part in the Alpine skiing - girl's slalom and girl's giant slalom events. Thakur became the first Indian skier to win a medal in an International Ski Federation event in 2018.

Muhammad Karim is an alpine skier from Pakistan. He became the second Pakistani to participate in a Winter Olympics when he competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. He participated in the slalom and giant slalom events and got a rank of 71 in the giant slalom. He also competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics. He participated in the giant slalom and secured a rank of 72.

Evgeniy Timofeev is an alpine skier from Kyrgyzstan. He competed for Kyrgyzstan at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the slalom and giant slalom. He was the only Kyrgyzstani athlete in Sochi.
