Hira Mondal (born 31 August 1996) [1] is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Indian Super League club NorthEast United. He has also represented West Bengal in the Santosh Trophy. [2] [3] [4] [5]

In July 2022, Mondal penned a two-year deal with Indian Super League club Bengaluru. [6] On 17 August, he was sent-off on his debut against Jamshedpur in the Durand Cup, in a 2–1 win. [7]

This season also marks as the final season leading to the decennial anniversary of the club on 20 July 2023.

The 2022 Durand Cup, also known as IndianOil Durand Cup due to sponsorship ties with Indian Oil Corporation, was the 131st edition of the Durand Cup, the oldest football tournament in Asia, and also the first edition since it was supported by the Asian Football Confederation. This year for the first time the tournament was played in more than one venue. The tournament is hosted by the Durand Football Tournament Society in co-operation with the AIFF, Eastern Command of the Indian Armed Forces and the Government of West Bengal, supported by the governments Assam and Manipur.

The 2022–23 season is the sixth season in Jamshedpur FC's existence, and their fifth season in the Indian Super League. This season of the ISL witnesses the return of the home-away format of the matches similar to that of the 2019–20 Indian Super League season after a break of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
