Hitoshi Asada (born December 29, 1950, in Osaka Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese politician who has served as a member of the House of Councillors of Japan since 2016. He represents the Osaka at-large district and is a member of the Japan Innovation Party. [1]

Asada Domain was a feudal domain under the Tokugawa shogunate of Edo period Japan, in what is now northern Osaka Prefecture. It was located in Teshima and Kawabe Districts of Settsu Province and was centered around Asada jin'ya in what is now part of the city of Toyonaka, Osaka. It was ruled in its entire history by a branch of the Aoki clan. Asada Domain was dissolved in the abolition of the han system in 1871 and is now part of Okayama Prefecture.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2016 Japanese House of Councillors election</span>

House of Councillors elections were held in Japan on Sunday 10 July 2016 to elect 121 of the 242 members of the House of Councillors, the upper house of the National Diet, for a term of six years. As a result of the election, the Liberal Democratic Party–Komeito coalition gained ten seats for a total of 145, the largest coalition achieved since the size of the house was set at 242 seats.

The Japan Innovation Party is a conservative and right-wing populist political party in Japan. Formed as Initiatives from Osaka in October 2015 from a split in the old Japan Innovation Party, the party became the third-biggest opposition party in the National Diet following the July 2016 House of Councillors election.

A revision to the Public Officers Electoral Law in 2012 increased the district's representation so that four Councillors were elected at the July 2013 election which will give the district a total eight Councillors by 2019.

Minoru Asada (1953–present) is a Japanese engineer. He is a professor of Adaptive Machine Systems at the Graduate School of Engineering at Osaka University, Japan. He is a research leader for and director of neuroscience robotics and Constructive Developmental Science based on understanding the process of neuro-dynamics to social interaction. His research focuses on emergent robotics to better understand the interaction between the robot and its environment in an attempt to comprehend the complex cognitive processes in both natural and artificial systems.
