The Women's field hockey Qualifying Tournaments for the 2008 Summer Olympics was a series of events in which teams compete for qualification for the 2008 Summer Olympics. Each team has a squad of up to 18 players with random jersey numbers.
Twelve national teams competed in the women's Olympic hockey tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Sixteen players were officially enrolled in each squad. Two reserve players could also be nominated to be available should a player enrolled in the official squad become injured during the tournament.
The Women's field hockey event for the 2010 Commonwealth Games was held at the Dhyan Chand National Stadium from 4–13 October 2010. The Gold medal was won by Australia, who defeated New Zealand 4–2 on penalty strokes after the match had finished 2–2. England won the bronze medal by defeating South Africa 1–0.
