The Triathlon competitions at the 2014 Commonwealth Games , in Glasgow, were held in Strathclyde Country Park. The men's and women's individual events were held on Thursday 24 July [1] and women's triathlon was the first medal event of the Games. Mixed team relay was held on Saturday 26 July for the first time ever in major multi-sport Games. Marisol Casado, ITU President and IOC member, commented: "We are delighted the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee has embraced the Triathlon Mixed Relay. Triathlon is on currently on a high in the United Kingdom, and the Mixed Relay will offer an extra opportunity for the people of Glasgow to watch another thrilling and unpredictable event live on their city streets." England dominated the competition, taking all three titles, and five medals in total. Alistair Brownlee and Jodie Stimpson won two gold medals each. The victory for Brownlee meant that he had won all senior international titles available to him : the Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth titles for triathlon.
The Triathlon events at the XX Commonwealth Games were conducted under the ITU Competition Rules and in accordance with the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) Constitution.
The men's and women's individual events were at distance - 1.5 km (0.93 mi) swim, 40 km (25 mi) cycle, and a 10 km (6.2 mi) run. [1] The competitions took place as single events between all competitors with no heats.
The mixed relay was contested at the Commonwealth Games for the first time. [3] This event was contested by teams of two men and two women who each complete a 250m swim, 6 km bike and 1600m run leg before passing on to the next athlete in the team. Race order: women-man-women-man.
On the south eastern edge of Glasgow, Strathclyde Country Park provided an excellent venue for Triathlon. This attractive course, using the loch for swimming and the surrounding network of roads and paths for the cycling and running phases, was already an established national triathlon venue.
Individual race course
swim course – 1,500m. The swim took place in the Strathclyde Loch on a course consisting of two laps of 750m.
bike course – 40 km. The bike course consisted of five laps of an 8 km course.
run course – 10 km. The run course consisted of three laps of 3.33 km each and used part of the bike course.
Mixed Relay course
swim course – 250m. The swim took place in the Strathclyde Loch on a course consisting of one lap.
bike course – 6 km. The bike course consisted of one lap of a 6 km course.
run course – 1.6 km. The run course consisted of two laps.

A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of swimming, cycling, and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time transitioning between the disciplines included. The word is of Greek origin, from τρεῖς or treis (three) and ἆθλος or athlos (competition).
World Triathlon is the international governing body for the multi-sport disciplines of triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon and other nonstandard variations. World Triathlon hosts the top level international race series the ITU World Triathlon Series and the ITU Triathlon World Cup. World Triathlon also has a long-distance race circuit with official world championships. Additionally, World Triathlon sanctions and organizes official Aquathlon (swim-run), Duathlon (run-bike-run) and Winter triathlon championships. Strathclyde Country Park is a country park located on the outskirts of Motherwell in North Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Alistair Edward Brownlee, MBE is a British triathlete. He is the only athlete to hold two Olympic titles in the triathlon event, winning gold medals in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games and the only man to have won Olympic Gold whilst going into the event as favourite for the title. He is also a two-time Triathlon World Champion, a two-time World Team Champion, a four-time European Champion, and the 2014 Commonwealth champion.
Emma Moffatt is an Australian professional triathlete. She won a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and won the gold at the ITU Triathlon World Championships in 2009 and in 2010. She was born in Moree, New South Wales, and was raised in the northern New South Wales town of Woolgoolga.
Jonathan Callum Brownlee is a British professional duathlete and triathlete. He was the 2012 Triathlon World Champion, and the silver medalist in 2013 and 2016.
Jodie Lee Stimpson is a British professional triathlete. In 2013, she finished runner up in the ITU World Triathlon Series.
The Dextro Energy Triathlon – ITU World Championship Series 2011 was a series of six World Championship Triathlon events leading to a Grand Final held in Beijing, China in September 2011. The Series was organised under the auspices of the world governing body of triathlon, the International Triathlon Union (ITU), and was sponsored by Dextro Energy.

Vicky Holland is an English triathlete who is part of the Great Britain Olympic team, a 2-time World Mixed Team Champion and the 2018 ITU WTS champion. She was born in Gloucester. She is the first female triathlete to win an Olympic medal for Great Britain, a bronze in 2016.

The triathlon competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo will feature fifty-five athletes competing in each of the men's and women's events. It will also add the new mixed team relay event.
The World Triathlon Series is World Triathlon's annual series of triathlon events used to crown an annual world champion. There are multiple rounds of competitions culminating in a Grand Final race. Athletes compete head-to-head for points in these races that will determine the overall ITU world champion. The elite championship races are held over two distances the standard and the sprint distance.
The mixed relay triathlon was part of the Triathlon at the 2014 Commonwealth Games program. The competition was held on 26 July 2014 at Strathclyde Country Park in Glasgow. This was the first time the event has been held at the Commonwealth Games.
The 2019 ITU World Triathlon Series is the 11th season of the World Triathlon Series, the top level international series for triathlon, since its establishment in 2009. The race was hosted on 15 July 2018 to coincide with the 2018 ITU World Triathlon Series Hamburg race, and featured 40 men and 40 women representing 20 countries. The race was around the Binnenalster, an artificial lake in central Hamburg. The race followed the standard mixed relay format, where each athlete would swim 300m, cycle 7 km and run 1.7 km before tagging their next teammate to do the same, with the specified gender order of female—male—female—male.
