The badminton competition at the 1990 Commonwealth Games took place in Auckland, New Zealand from 24 January until 3 February 1990. [2] Steve Baddeley was forced to withdraw from the men's singles and mixed doubles bronze play off's due to severe blistering on his feet.

The 1990 Commonwealth Games were held in Auckland, New Zealand from 24 January – 3 February 1990. It was the 14th Commonwealth Games, and part of New Zealand's 1990 sesquicentennial celebrations. Participants competed in ten sports: athletics, aquatics, badminton, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, judo, lawn bowls, shooting and weightlifting. Netball and the Triathlon were demonstration events.
Saina Nehwal is an Indian badminton player. A former world no. 1, she has won 24 international titles, which includes ten Superseries titles. Although she reached the world's 2nd in 2009, it was only in 2015 that she was able to attain the world no. 1 ranking, thereby becoming the only female player from India and thereafter the second Indian player – after Prakash Padukone – to achieve this feat. She has represented India three times in the Olympics, winning a bronze medal in her second appearance at London 2012.
Gillian Margaret Clark is an English badminton commentator and former badminton player who specialized in doubles.
Datuk Foo Kok Keong is a former badminton player from Malaysia who rated among the world's best singles players from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s. He competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
Michelle Li is a Canadian badminton player. Li is the 2014 Commonwealth Games champion and the first Canadian to win an individual gold medal in women's singles badminton at the Commonwealth Games. She has won gold in both singles and doubles at the Pan American Games and won the singles and team event titles from the Pan American Badminton Championships. As a competitor for Ontario, Li also won singles, doubles, and mixed team titles at the 2011 Canada Winter Games.
Christopher Thomas Adcock is a retired English badminton player. Adcock is currently sponsored by Yonex and YC Sports and plays for the University of Nottingham-based NBL team. He entered the National team in 2006, and later won the boys' doubles and mixed team titles at the 2007 European Junior Championships. He was a World Championships medalists winning a silver in 2011 with Imogen Bankier and a bronze in 2017 with Gabby Adcock. Together with Gabby, he also won a silver medal at the 2007 World Junior Championships, and then claimed the gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and 2018; and at the European Championships in 2017 and 2018.
Fu Mingtian is a Chinese-born Singaporean badminton player.
Pranaav Jerry Chopra is an Indian badminton player. He joined the India national badminton team in 2007. In the year 2018, at the Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast, Queensland, he won the gold medal in mixed team as being a member of the Indian mixed team. He is only the second player from India to reach Top 15 in the World Rankings in Mixed Doubles with his partner.
Gabrielle Marie Adcock is an English retired badminton player.
Vivian Hoo Kah Mun is a Malaysian former badminton player. She is the elder sister of Hoo Pang Ron, who is also a Malaysian badminton player.
The badminton competition at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games took place in Edinburgh, Scotland from 16 July until 21 July 1970. Sixteen countries participated in this event.
Marcus Ellis is a British badminton player. He was the men's doubles champion in the English National Championships. Ellis and Chris Langridge won a bronze medal in the men's doubles at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, also gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. At the 2019 Minsk European Games, Ellis captured two gold medals; in the men's doubles with Langridge and in the mixed doubles event with Lauren Smith.
Oliver Leydon-Davis is a New Zealand badminton player. He won the Oceania Championships title in the mixed doubles in 2014, and in the men's doubles in 2020.
Chirag Shetty is an Indian badminton player. With his doubles partner Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, he is an Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Championships gold medalist. They are the only Indian doubles pair to become World No. 1 in BWF World Ranking, win the BWF World Tour 1000 series, and become the first Indians to win a gold medal at the Asian Games in badminton.
Georges Julien Paul is a Mauritian badminton player. Paul took part at the 2014 African Youth Games, and won three gold medals in the individual event. He was part of the national team that won the gold medal at the 2015 African Games. Paul won the men's singles title at the 2018 and 2020 African Championships.
Gayatri Gopichand Pullela is an Indian badminton player. She is the daughter of former badminton players P. V. V. Lakshmi and Pullela Gopichand. She was part of the team that clinched the gold medal at the 2019 South Asian Games. She also won a silver in the women's singles. At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, she won a silver in the mixed team and bronze in the women's doubles categories. Gopichand became the first Indian women's doubles player to make the semi-finals of All England Open, 21 years after her father's victory.
Andrew Brian Goode is an English retired badminton player.
Claire Backhouse-Sharpe is a Canadian badminton player and coach. Between 1978 and 1994, she competed in five editions of the Commonwealth Games for Canada, winning a single gold medal and five silver medals. Backhouse-Sharpe also participated in the World Badminton Championships and Uber Cup on five occasions each as part of the Canada national badminton team. She won multiple national and regional titles and was assistant coach and manager of the British Columbia Badminton team at the 1994 Canada Winter Games and the 1995 Western Canada Games. Backhouse-Sharpe was inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Badminton Canada Hall of Fame.
Amy Chan MBE is a retired badminton player from Hong Kong who won gold medals in World Championships and Commonwealth Games.
Richard Howard Purser is a New Zealand badminton player who has won 33 New Zealand national badminton titles, including the men's singles on nine occasions. He competed at four consecutive Commonwealth Games, from 1966 to 1978, and won the bronze medal in the men's doubles with his brother, Bryan Purser, at the 1978 Commonwealth Games.
