Alexia is an Italian singer. Before recording in Italian in the 2000s, she made records in English in the 1990s. Many of those were international hits. Before her solo career, she was the vocalist of Ice MC.
"Uh La La La" is a song recorded by Italian singer-songwriter Alexia featuring additional vocals by an uncredited male rapper. It was released by DWA Records and Sony Music as the fourth single from the singer's debut album, Fan Club (1997), and is written by Roberto Zanetti and Alexia herself. The song was a summer hit of 1997 in Europe and became Alexia's international breakout success. It reached number-one in Spain, number two in Finland and was a top 10 hit also in Austria, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, Sweden and the UK. After its success in Europe, the song was remixed for a UK release the following year, which also saw release in Australia, where it peaked at number 17. This was her last single to be released by different labels in different territories as after this all her releases would be by Sony. The music video for "Uh La La La" was directed by Luca Lucini and filmed in the US.
Double You are an Italian Techno and Eurodance group founded in 1985 by vocalist William Naraine, keyboardist and producer Franco Amato and DJ Andrea de Antoni. By 1992, they had sold more than three million records. "Please Don't Go", a dance version of KC & the Sunshine Band's 1979 ballad, is one of their major hits.
"Searchin' (I Gotta Find a Man)" is a song written and produced by Ian Anthony Stephens and recorded by British singer Hazell Dean in 1983. It became a top-ten hit on the UK Singles Chart and US Dance Club Songs chart. It was covered in 2007 by Australian girl group Young Divas.
"No Time" is the debut single by American rapper Lil' Kim featuring Puff Daddy. It was released as the lead single for her debut album Hard Core in October 1996. It peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100, reached the top ten on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and peaked the US Rap Songs for nine weeks—becoming Kim's first number one hit on the chart. Additionally, the song charted at number 45 on the UK Singles Chart. "No Time" was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and contains a sample of Vicki Anderson's "Message from the Soul Sisters" and Lyn Collins's "Take Me Just As I Am."
"Amado Mio" is a song from the classic 1946 film noir Gilda, written by Doris Fisher and Allan Roberts. The piece was lip-synched by Rita Hayworth and sung by Anita Kert Ellis. Grace Jones's rendition of the song on her 1989 album Bulletproof Heart was released as a single in a special "Brazilian Mix" in 1990. It became a significant dance hit in the US.
"Shake That!" is a song by German band Scooter. It was released in October 2004 as the second single from their tenth studio album Mind the Gap.
"Me and You" was the first solo single by the Italian singer Alexia, released in 1995. It featured guest vocals from Double You and reached number 1 on the Italian charts. The song was initially released in Italy on CD and 12", with releases in other European countries following. The German edition would be released by ZYX, the Spanish release by Blanco Y Negro and the French release by Panic, a subsidiary of Polygram. A remix 12" was later released. In 1996, the track was released in America on Popular Records.
"Summer Is Crazy" is a song by Italian singer Alexia, released as the second single from her debut studio album, Fan Club (1997). Co-written by Roberto Zanetti and Alexia, the song was very successful, reaching number one on the Italian Singles Chart and becoming a Top 5 hit in both Finland and Spain. This was the first of two Alexia singles to feature radio jingles of the track on the CD. The song would also be featured as a B-side on the UK editions of "Gimme Love" in 1998, although due to a misprint, writing credits went only to Alexia.
"Number One" is a song by Italian singer Alexia, released as the third single from her debut album, Fan Club (1997). Co-written by Alexia, it was her third successive top 5 hit on the Italian singles chart. In both Finland and Spain, it peaked within the top 5. A set of Spanish versions were released, although these were not specifically for the Spanish market.
"Virtual Reality" is a single released by the Italian singer Alexia solely in Finland in 1997. The song was released on two-track CD only by Dancepool in 1997. Alexia's management team at DWA did not know about the release of this single.
"Gimme Love" is a song by Italian singer Alexia, released in March 1998 as the lead single from her second album, The Party (1998). It reached number one in both Italy and Spain, and charted in the top 20 of the UK Singles Chart, where a complete set of remixes for the British market were issued. It is based on the 1977 song "Gimme Some" by Brendon. A music video was also produced to promote the single.
Fan Club is the debut studio album by Italian singer Alexia released in 1997. The album featured mostly eurodance tracks, as was producer Robyx's speciality. It was released in 1997 after the release of Alexia's fourth single "Uh La La La", yet strangely no further singles were released from the album with the exception of two country specific releases of "Virtual Reality" and "Hold On". A version of "Virtual Reality" had already been released in Italy credited to E.Y.E. featuring Alexia.
"Dimmi come…" was the first single released by the Italian singer Alexia from her fifth studio album Alexia.
Remix Album '98 is a compilation album released by the singer Alexia in 1998 in Poland. The album contained remixes of the four official singles from Alexia's debut album Fan Club along with the new track It's Christmas Time that had been released on the Christmas edition of Fan Club, two album tracks from Fan Club and a remix of Virtual Reality that was from a single release Alexia was credited to.
Happy is the third studio album by Italian singer Alexia released in 1999, and would be her final studio album to be written and produced by Robyx and the DWA team. The album continued to see Alexia have a broad range of styles, though the move away from eurodance was not as dramatic as it had been with The Party. It was Alexia's first album on the Sony Epic label. Alexia's management team had boasted that every track on the album was good enough to be released as a single, yet only two tracks were released as singles.
"Ti amo ti amo" is the tenth single released by the Italian singer Alexia released in 2000 and was the only new track from her first best of compilation album The Hits. It was the last single she released that was produced by Robyx as she decided to leave the DWA team so that she could grow as an artist and pursue different styles of music.
"Da grande" is first single from Alexia's second hits compilation album Da grande and was released on CD in 2005. The CD contained two tracks, with the second track being the international English version of "Dimmi come..."/"Don't You Know", that saw a release in some territories outside Italy in 2002. It was the first Alexia release not to feature her on the cover.
Mad for Music is the fourth studio album by Italian singer Alexia released in 2001, and would be her final studio album to be sung exclusively in English. It was her first album that she had a hand co-producing and the first released since her split with DWA and Robyx. Some of the tracks would be recorded in Italian and included on her 2002 album Alexia.
Collections is the second budget compilation album of the singer Alexia released after she left the label. It is not regarded as an official Alexia hits compilation as it contains both singles and album tracks. Notably, the songs are from the time after she left Robyx and DWA and cover the albums Mad for Music, Alexia, Il cuore a modo mio and Gli occhi grandi della luna. "Da grande", one of the new songs from her 2005 hits collection Da grande is included and this is the only Alexia compilation album to feature the single Summerlovers. It was released on 19 February 2009 by Columbia and was the first and only release by Alexia on Sony's Columbia imprint.
