Whitby is a town in Durham Region. Whitby is located in Southern Ontario east of Ajax and west of Oshawa, on the north shore of Lake Ontario and is home to the headquarters of Durham Region. It had a population of 138,501 at the 2021 census. It is approximately 45 km (28 mi) east of Toronto, and it is known as a commuter suburb in the Durham Region, a part of the Greater Toronto Area. While the southern portion of Whitby is predominantly urban and an economic hub, the northern part of the municipality is more rural and includes the communities of Ashburn, Brooklin, Myrtle, Myrtle Station, and Macedonian Village.
The National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) was a women's ice hockey league established in Canada in service from 1999 to 2007. In its final season the league was run by the Ontario Women's Hockey Association.

The Markham Thunder was a professional women's ice hockey team in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). From 1998 through 2017, the franchise was known as the Brampton Thunder and Brampton Canadettes-Thunder before relocating from Brampton, Ontario, to Markham, Ontario, for the 2017–18 season. The CWHL ceased operations in 2019 and no further statements or actions were taken with the franchise.
St. Joseph High School is a Roman Catholic high school in the Barrhaven neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is run by the Ottawa Catholic School Board. In athletics, the school teams are referred to as the St. Joseph Jaguars and the school mascot is a jaguar named McJagger. Commonly known as St. Joe's by the local community, St. Joe's has an enrolment of approximately 2500-3000 students, ranging from grades 7 to 12, as well as 115 staff members.
Holy Cross Catholic Academy is a Catholic high school. It was first established in September 1986 to serve western Woodbridge, a community in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. The school currently serves grades nine through twelve. In 1990, the school celebrated its first graduating class. Archbishop Robert Clune blessed the building on May 2, 1990. The school's tenth anniversary was inaugurated with the planting of a tree at the front of the school, which is marked by way of a metal plaque. Holy Cross Catholic High School was converted to a Catholic Academy in 1998 due to pressures from the Ontario government to enhance education in technical development. Its feeder schools include St. Peter's Catholic Elementary School, St. Clement Catholic Elementary School, San Marco Catholic Elementary School, St. Margaret Mary Catholic Elementary School, and St. Angela Merici Catholic Elementary School, all in the Woodbridge area.
Sandwich Secondary School is a school in LaSalle, Ontario. It has about 1,050 students, and teaches about half of the students in LaSalle, along with St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Secondary School. Sandwich Secondary School is part of the Greater Essex County District School Board, or GECDSB. It was named after the former town of Sandwich, which used to encompass the western shores of Windsor, as well as LaSalle.
St. Francis Xavier Secondary School is a Catholic high school in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, overseen by the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. As of October 29, 2021, it has 1,840 students, about 130 teaching and support staff, and a childcare centre. The school mascot is the Tiger. It serves the Francophone population of Essex County. The name l'Essor, coined by local resident Florence Limoges, is a portmanteau combining "Essex" and "Windsor". Essor also refers to the French word "to take flight". The school belongs to the Conseil scolaire catholique Providence.

The school building is similar to that of St. Joseph Secondary School in Mississauga, which was modelled after Philip Pocock.

Bill Crothers Secondary School is an athletic based high school in the community of Unionville in Markham, Ontario, Canada. It was the newest secondary school in the York Region District School Board for a number of years, since 2008. Named for the former Olympic athlete and Chair of the York Region District School Board, Bill Crothers, the school opened its doors to Grade 9 and 10 students in August 2008. The school is 32 acres (130,000 m2) and cost an estimated $32 million to build. The school was formerly an 18-hole golf course, Unionville Golf Centre, opened in 1961.
St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School (STA) is a Catholic secondary school in London, Ontario, located in the neighbourhood of Oakridge in the west end of the city. Notre Dame College School is a Catholic high school in Welland, Ontario, Canada with classes ranging from Grade 9 to Grade 12. The school was founded by the Holy Cross Fathers, a group of Roman Catholic priests who also founded the University of Notre Dame. In the early years of the establishment, tuition was levied to students attending the school; however, the institution is now completely publicly funded. Notre Dame is currently the largest secondary school in the Niagara Region, with 1243 students. All NCDSB elementary schools in the Welland and Pelham areas are considered to be feeder schools to Notre Dame.
