Hong Kong people of Fujianese origin. Also known as Hoklo (although this term in many contexts also encompasses Chiu Chow people). [1] North Point has a prominent Fujianese community. During the Hong Kong protests there were rumors of armed gangs from the mainland coming to settle disputes with protesters. [2]

The Hoklo people are among the Indigenous inhabitants of the New Territories.[ citation needed ]

It is thought that 800,000 people have their origin in Fujian. [3]

Hoklo people

The Hoklo people are descendants of Han Chinese people whose traditional ancestral homes are in southern part of Fujian, China. They are speakers of Hokkien, a prestige Southern Min language on the basis of preponderance of their Bamboo network billionaires, in the Southern Min language family, and known by various endonyms, or other related terms such as Banlam (Minnan) people or Hokkien people. There are significant populations in Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Ng Man-tat Hong Kong actor

Richard Ng Man-tat was a Hong Kong actor originally from Fujian. He was a veteran actor in the Hong Kong film industry, with dozens of awards, including Best Supporting Actor at the 10th Hong Kong Film Awards for his role in A Moment of Romance. Ng was best known for his comedic roles and was a versatile actor with many memorable performances throughout his career.

Ron Ng

Ron Ng Cheuk-hei is a Hong Kong actor, singer, and former dancer. He first rose to popularity in the 2003 TVB drama Triumph in the Skies. He has since starred in several successful television series, most notably Twin of Brothers, The Academy series, and the Flying Tiger franchise. He is known for his various police roles in dramas series.

God of Gamblers III: Back to Shanghai is a 1991 Hong Kong comedy film, a sequel to God of Gamblers II (1990). The film is directed by Wong Jing, and stars Stephen Chow and Ng Man-tat. God of Gamblers III continues the story of the Saint of Gamblers (Chow), and does not feature the Knight of Gamblers or the God of Gamblers. The story is about Chow accidentally going back in time to Shanghai in 1937, as he tries to figure out how to return to Hong Kong in 1991.

COVID-19 pandemic in Macau Ongoing COVID-19 viral pandemic in Macau

The COVID-19 pandemic in Macau is part of the ongoing worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The first case of the disease in Macau was confirmed on 22 January 2020. The city saw nine more cases by 4 February, but no more cases until 15 March, when imported cases began to appear. Until 5 February 2021, the city has 48 cumulative confirmed cases of COVID-19, all of those having recovered, and no deaths from the disease. Stringent government measures have included the 15-day closure of all 81 casinos in the territory in February; in addition, effective 25 March, the territory disallowed connecting flights at its airport as well as entry by all non-residents, and from 6 April, the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge was closed to public transport and most other traffic.

Winki Lai

Winki Lai Wai Ling is a Hong Kong actress and television host. She has been a TVB artiste since 2014. Lai gained recognition with her role as Chiang Chin-ha in Al Cappuccino in 2020 and won Best Supporting Actress in TVB Anniversary Awards 2020.
