NYU Grossman School of Medicine is a medical school of New York University (NYU),a private research university in New York City. It was founded in 1841 and is one of two medical schools of the university,the other being the NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine. Both are part of NYU Langone Health.
The Yale School of Public Health (YSPH) was founded in 1915 by Charles-Edward Amory Winslow and is one of the oldest public health masters programs in the United States. It is consistently rated among the best schools of public health in the country,receiving recent rankings of 3rd for its doctoral program in epidemiology. YSPH is both a department within the school of medicine as well as an independent,CEPH-certified school of public health.
Tomas J. Philipson is a Swedish-born American economist who served as the Acting Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers in the Trump administration. He departed from the position and the Council at the end of June,2020,to return to the University of Chicago. He holds the Daniel Levin Chair in Public Policy at the University of Chicago,with posts in the Harris School of Public Policy Studies,Department of Economics,and the Law School. He was a Director of the Becker Friedman Institute at the university.
Andrew M. Slavitt is an American businessman and healthcare advisor who served as the acting administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services from March 2015 to January 2017 and as a temporary Senior Advisor to the COVID-19 Response Coordinator in the Biden administration. A leader of the team that helped to repair the healthcare.gov website after its initial rollout,he was nominated by Barack Obama to run CMS in July 2015. In January 2021,Slavitt accepted a temporary role as Senior Pandemic Advisor to President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 pandemic response team. He stepped down from that role in June 2021.
Chidi Chike Achebe is a Nigerian-American physician executive. He is currently the chairman and CEO of AIDE. AIDE is a Boston-based organization dedicated to the development of the African continent. Dr. Achebe has also served as the president and CEO of Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center,Medical Director of Whittier Street Health Center and as assistant professor at Tufts University School of Medicine–all in Boston,Massachusetts. Achebe also serves as medical consultant;Clean water for kids –an NGO that brings fresh water to underserved communities in Liberia;and advisor for Tesfa Health,Bahirdar,Ethiopia.
Akiko Iwasaki is a Sterling Professor of Immunobiology and Molecular,Cellular and Developmental Biology at Yale University. She is also a principal investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Her research interests include innate immunity,autophagy,inflammasomes,sexually transmitted infections,herpes simplex virus,human papillomavirus,respiratory virus infections,influenza infection,T cell immunity,commensal bacteria,COVID-19,and long COVID.
Elizabeth Howe Bradley is the eleventh President of Vassar College,a role she assumed on July 1,2017. Bradley also holds a joint appointment as Professor of Political Science and Professor of Science,Technology,and Society.
Mark V. Pauly is an American economist whose work focuses on healthcare management and business economics. He is currently the Bendheim Professor in the Department of Health Care Management at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Pauly is a former commissioner on the Physician Payment Review Commission,and has been a consultant to the Congressional Budget Office,the Office of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,the American Enterprise Institute,and served on the Medicare Technical Advisory Panel. He is also the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Springer journal International Journal of Health Care Finance and Economics,and was formerly the Robert D. Eilers Professor from 1984 to 1989.
Stephen T. Parente is an American health economist. He currently serves as a Professor of Finance and the Minnesota Insurance Industry Chair at the Carlson School of Management and Finance at the University of Minnesota. In April 2017,President Donald Trump nominated Parente to be Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation in the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
Ashish Kumar Jha is an Indian-American general internist physician and academic who served as the White House COVID-19 response coordinator from 2022–2023. He has been Dean of the Brown University School of Public Health since 2020. Prior to Brown,he was the K.T. Li Professor of Global Health at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health,faculty director of the Harvard Global Health Institute,and a Senior Advisor at Albright Stonebridge Group. Jha is recognized as one of the leading health policy scholars in the nation. Jha's role at Brown University focuses on improving the quality and cost of health care,and on the impact of public health policy.
Jonathan S. Lewin is an American neuroradiologist specializing in medical imaging research with an emphasis on the investigation,development,and translation of new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques. He is the former executive vice president for health affairs (EVPHA) and executive director of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center for Emory University,and former President,CEO,and chairman of the board of Emory Healthcare. He currently serves as professor of radiology,biomedical engineering,and neurosurgery in the Emory School of Medicine and as professor of health policy and management in the Rollins School of Public Health.
Michele Barry is a professor of medicine. She became Stanford's inaugural Senior Associate Dean of global health in 2009 and started the Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health in 2010. Prior to this,she was a professor at Yale,where she started the first refugee health clinic and homeless health mobile van project,for which she was awarded the Elm Ivy Mayor’s Award. She specializes in tropical medicine,emerging infectious diseases,women’s leadership in global health,and human and planetary health.
Syra Madad is an American pathogen preparedness expert and infectious disease epidemiologist. Madad is the Senior Director of the System-wide Special Pathogens Program at NYC Health + Hospitals where she is part of the executive leadership team which oversees New York City's response to the Coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic in the city's 11 public hospitals. She was featured in the Netflix documentary series Pandemic:How to Prevent an Outbreak and the Discovery Channel documentary The Vaccine:Conquering COVID.
Allison Joan McGeer is a Canadian infectious disease specialist in the Sinai Health System,and a professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. She also appointed at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and a Senior Clinician Scientist at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute,and is a partner of the National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases. McGeer has led investigations into the severe acute respiratory syndrome outbreak in Toronto and worked alongside Donald Low. During the COVID-19 pandemic,McGeer has studied how SARS-CoV-2 survives in the air and has served on several provincial committees advising aspects of the Government of Ontario's pandemic response.
Megan L. Ranney is a practicing American emergency physician currently serving as the Dean of the Yale School of Public Health. Previously,Ranney served as the Deputy Dean of the Brown University School of Public Health,was Warren Alpert Endowed Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital and the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Ranney was the founding Director of the Brown-Lifespan Center for Digital Health.
Oni Blackstock is an American primary care and HIV physician,researcher,and founder of Health Justice,a racial and health equity consulting practice. She previously served as assistant commissioner for the Bureau of HIV for the New York City Department of Health,where she led the city's response to the HIV epidemic. Her research considers the experiences of women and people of color in healthcare. During the COVID-19 pandemic Blackstock shared advice on how people in New York City could maintain sexual health and slow the spread of COVID-19 as well as guidance for people with HIV and HIV care providers about the intersection of HIV and COVID-19.
Mandy Krauthamer Cohen is an American internist,public health official,and healthcare executive serving as the director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) since July 10,2023. She was previously the executive vice president at Aledade and chief executive officer of Aledade Care Solution,a healthcare company.
Marcella Nunez-Smith is an American physician-scientist. She is C.N.H Long Professor of medicine and epidemiology at the Yale School of Medicine,where she serves as the inaugural Associate Dean for Health Equity Research and founding director of the Equity Research and Innovation Center. She also holds joint appointments at the Yale School of Public Health and the Yale School of Management. After co-chairing the Biden-Harris transition's COVID-19 Advisory Board from November 2020 to January 2021,she was selected by President Joe Biden to serve as Senior Advisor to the White House COVID-19 Response Team and Chair of the Presidential COVID-19 Equity Task Force.
Harlan M. Krumholz is an American cardiologist. He is the Harold H. Hines,Jr. Professor of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. Krumholz's research is aimed at determining optimal clinical strategies and identifying opportunities for improvement in the prevention,treatment and outcome of cardiovascular disease
Jameela Al Salman is a Bahraini physician,infectious disease specialist,and associate professor at the Arabian Gulf University. She has won several awards and honors for her contributions to the field of medicine. Al Salman holds three American Board certifications:the American Board of Internal Medicine,the American Board of Geriatric Medicine,and the American Board of Infectious Diseases.
