Hubbard High School is a public high school in Hubbard, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Hubbard Exempted Village School District. Sports teams are called the Eagles, and they compete in the Ohio High School Athletic Association as a member of the Northeast 8 Athletic Conference.
The school, located at 350 Hall Ave, serves roughly 600 students in grades 9 through 12 from Hubbard, Ohio. The district also serves a number of students from Youngstown and other surrounding communities through the Open Enrollment program.
In a process that took several years, all three schools in the Hubbard EVSD moved to one campus located on the southwest side of the City of Hubbard. Previously, Roosevelt Elementary School (now Hubbard Elementary School) was located on a parcel between Orchard Avenue SE and School Street. Reed Middle School (now Hubbard Middle School) and Hubbard High School were on the same campus they are currently. During construction in 2013, the three schools were rebuilt and consolidated into one building with three distinct sections for the three levels of education. General contractor Burgess & Niple constructed the building for a cost of $55 million. [3]
Sports offered at Hubbard High School include; Cheerleading, Cross Country running, American Football, Golf, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Bowling, Swimming, Wrestling, Baseball, Softball, and Track and Field. [4]
Home football, boys' soccer, and girls' soccer games are played at Hubbard Memorial Stadium on Rebecca Avenue SE in Hubbard. [5] The stadium is not located on the K-12 campus located on Hall Avenue. The stadium capacity is 5,000 and contains a 2-story press box on the home side of the stadium. There are three gates for entry: at the corner of School and Center Streets, behind the Hubbard Public Library on West Liberty Street, and the main entrance off of Rebecca Avenue SE. The only parking lot for the stadium is also located here.
In 2013, the stadium was modernized with artificial turf. A covered bandstand, known as the "Band Shell" was constructed in the south end of the stadium for the Musical Pride of Hubbard. Prior to the modernization, Alumni Field, as it's now known, was a grass field. The marching band had bleachers behind the north end zone.
The Hubbard High School track & field complex is located at 50 Hall Avenue SE, on the K-12 campus. This facility once hosted the Hubbard High School home soccer games prior to the reconstruction of Memorial Stadium. The complex is lighted with bleachers for fans on the hill. A restroom facility is located on the southeast side of the complex and is open during sporting events.
The Hubbard K-12 campus is also home to the Hubbard Community Pool. Opened in 1975, this facility is an indoor swimming pool for both members of the community and the Hubbard swim team to use. [6] The pool facility is connected to the school but cannot be accessed through the school. The pool can be configured in two ways to allow multiple events to occur in the pool simultaneously.
The Hubbard Baseball stadium is located to the south of the High school, along Eagle Lane on the K-12 campus. There are bleachers for fans and two dugouts for teams and a scoreboard. The field is not lit for night games.
The Hubbard Softball field is located on Eaglet Lane on the K-12 campus. It is situated between Hubbard Elementary School and the track & field complex. The field is not lit for night games. There are no bleachers for fans.
The mascot for Hubbard High School is the Hubbard Eagle. In 2019, the Hubbard Eagle won Varsity Brands School Spirit Awards' best mascot in the country award. [7]
