Huma Hameed is a Pakistani actress. She is one of the most popular actresses of her time and was one of the most successful actress of 1980s and 1990s. [1] She was also known as Audrey Hepburn of Pakistan due to her stylish sophisticated and independent strong roles in dramas. [1] She is known for her roles in dramas Takkay Ki Ayegi Baraat , Tum Mere Hi Rehna, Zid, Annie Ki Ayegi Baraat and Jaisay Aapki Marzi . [2]

Early life

Hameed was born in Lahore at Pakistan and she completed her early education from Lahore Girls College. [1] Huma's father Hameed Akhtar was a writer and her mother Saadia was a film producer. [3]

Career

She started working at PTV Lahore Centre. [1] She worked in drama Koel with Rahat Kazmi and later she worked in Aur Drames which was written by Ashfaq Ahmed. [4]

In 1983, she worked in drama Roshni with Asif Raza Mir and Farooq Zameer written by Haseena Moin and then she worked in drama Shikayatain Hakayatain with Qavi Khan and Zaib Rehman. [5] [6]

After she got married then she moved to Toronto at Canada but she continued to work in dramas. [1]

In 2011, she worked in drama Takkay Ki Ayegi Baraat and later Annie Ki Ayegi Baraat the dramas were directed by Marina Khan. [3]

In 2014, she worked in drama Tum Mere Hi Rehna on Hum TV with Saba Hameed, Waseem Abbas, Kiran Haq and Mikaal Zulfiqar. Later in 2019 she worked in drama Zid starring with Faris Shafi, Shaista Jabeen, Muneeb Butt, Shehryar Zaidi and Saba Faisal on Express Entertainment which was directed by Owais Khan and written by Samira Faza. She portrayed the role of Sabeera a widow businesswoman who takes care of her teenager children but also has a difficult time expressing her feelings to them which causes a rift and distance between them. [1]

In 2023, she appeared in drama Jaisay Aapki Marzi on ARY Digital along with Durefishan Saleem, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Kiran Malik, Jawed Sheikh, Hira Umer and Ali Tahir which was directed by her sister Saba Hameed and written by Naila Zehra Jafri. [7] She did the role of Shagufta a kind and loving mother of Aleezay. [8]

Personal life

Huma is married and lives with her husband at Canada. [1] Huma has three children and her father Hameed Akhtar was a writer also her sisters Saba Hameed and Lalarukh Hameed are actresses. [9] [10]

Takkay ki Ayegi Baraat is a Pakistani comedy-drama that aired on Geo TV from June 2011 to October 2011. The third instalment of its kind, it is a continuation of the hit Dolly ki Ayegi Baraat in the Evernew's popular storyline of Kis Ki Ayegi Baraat. The show includes most of the characters from Dolly ki Ayegi Baraat, and focuses on the story of Mustaq a.k.a. Takkay and Sila's friend Sukena. Takkay ki Ayegi Baraat is written by Vasay Chaudry who had co written the previous serial as well. The character of Sila, previously played by Sarwat Gilani and Ayesha Omar in the first and second serials respectively, is played by Alishba Yousuf. This is the third time the character of Sila has been played by a different actress. And the character of Azar is now played by Ahsan Khan.
