Hussain Mahamed Ahmed, [1] more commonly known as Hussain Bisad (born 1975) (Somali : Xuseen Maxamed Axmed (Xuseen Bisad)) is one of the tallest people in the world and the tallest known person in the UK, at 2.32 m (7 ft 7+1⁄2 in). He held the record for the largest hands of anyone alive until Sultan Kosen took the record. His hands are 10.59 inches or 26.9 cm long. He weighs 210 kg (460 lb). [2]

Doctors believe that Bisad has a condition called pituitary giantism, that makes growth continue after most people stop developing. Expert in abnormal growth Professor Mike Besser, from Bart's Hospital, Central London, said he probably has a tumour in the pituitary gland behind his eyes. [5]
Hussain Bisad is originally from Somaliland, and he hails from the Issa Musa sub-division of the Habr Awal Isaaq clan. He fled Somaliland after being shot by Somali government forces during the Isaaq genocide, and has been granted asylum in Britain, where he now lives. [2] [6]
Hussain was born in 1975 in Burao, the capital of the Togdheer region in northern Somalia. [7] In 2015 he married Yasmin Hasan Muhumed at a wedding ceremony in Hargeisa, attended by Somaliland officials like Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, as well as the shortest living man in Somaliland.
Due to severe health complications leading to needing dialysis multiple times a day, he moved into a care home in Brent. He has since received a kidney transplant and is recovering well. [8]
The Habar Yoonis alternatively spelled as Habr Yunis is a major clan part of the wider Isaaq clan. As descendants of Ismail bin Sheikh Isaaq, its members form a part of the wider Habar Magaadle confederation which constitutes the largest sub-clan of the Isaaq.
The Arap or Arab clan is a major Northern Somali clan of the wider Isaaq clan family. The Arap predominantly live on the middle and southwest side of Hargeisa and in the Baligubadle district Hawd region) of Somaliland, with its capital Baligubadle being an exclusively Arap territory. The territory of the clan extends to Ethiopia, in the area of Faafan, Gursum and Dhagahle. The Abdalle Arab, a sub-clan of the Arap clan is based in the Togdheer, Sahil. The Celi Arab, a sub-clan of the Arap clan is based in Maroodi Jeex Hargeisa Muuse celi arab living also Bakool South West State of Somalia Rabdhure Elbarde, They also live Fafan Zone Gursum, Somali Sheekh cismaan Arab based in Nogob Zone Jarar Zone regions.
The Isaaq is a major Somali clan. It is one of the largest Somali clan families in the Horn of Africa, with a large and densely populated traditional territory.
The Dhulbahante is a Somali clan family, part of the Harti clan which itself belongs to the largest Somali clan-family — the Darod. They are the traditional inhabitants of the physiographic Nugaal in its topographic sense, and its pre-independence administrative sense, which included Doollo. The clan's progenitor is buried at Badweyn.

The Garhajis are divided into two major sub-clans: the Habr Yunis and Eidagale. They are traditionally nomadic pastoralists, merchants and skilled poets.

SSC- Khaatumo Administration, officially known as the SSC-Khaatumo Administration , is an autonomous administration in Northern Somalia, with its capital in Las Anod. It includes parts of the Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn regions It is bordered by Puntland to the east, the Somali Region of Ethiopia to the south, Somaliland to the west and the Gulf of Aden to the north.
The Isamusa (Somali: Ciisemuuse, Arabic: عيسى موسى, is a prominent Somali clan which is part of the Isaaq family clan. The Isamusa traditionally consists of coastal people, nomadic pastoralist and merchants. This clan are primarily settled in Somaliland, including Maroodi Jeex, Togdheer, Sahil, Awdal, Djibouti, Yemen, as well as Kenya. Isamusa populations are present in southern Somalia such as Mogadishu.

Qalloocan, also spelt Qaloocan is a town in the Burao District, in the Togdheer region of Somaliland. It is inhabited by the Sanbuur sub-division of the Habr Je'lo Isaaq clan.
The Isaaq Sultanate was a Muslim sultanate that ruled parts of the Horn of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries. The kingdom spanned the territories of the Isaaq clan in modern-day Somaliland. It was governed by the Rer Guled branch of the Garhajis clan and is the pre-colonial predecessor to the modern Republic of Somaliland.
The Sa'ad Musa or Saad Musa is a northern Somali clan. Its members form a part of the Subeer Awal sub-clan of the Isaaq clan family. The Sa'ad Musa traditionally consists of nomadic pastoralists, coastal people, merchants and farmers. The clan inhabits Somaliland, including Maroodi Jeex,Awdal and Sahil as well as Djibouti, the Somali Region of Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania.
The Mohamoud Garad is a Somali clan. Its members form a part of the Dhulbahante, a sub-division of the Harti/Darod clan-family. The clan is divided into three main sub-clans ― namely the Ahmed garad, the Ugaadhyahan and abdi garad.
The Farah Garad or the Garad Farah is a Somali clan which is part of the Dhulbahante clan-family, a sub-division of the larger Harti/Darod clan. The Farah Garad are divided into two sub-clans — Yassin Garad and Abdalla Garad. Abdalla has four clan eponyms, Ahmed Garad, Mohamed Garad (Baharsame), Guled Garad (Barkad) and Ali Garad. They are largely significant in Sool and Togdheer regions of Somaliland, and Dollo Somali region of Ethiopia.
House of Guled was the ruling house of the Isaaq Sultanate from 1750 to 1884 and is also a subclan in its own right. The family are descendants of the Eidagale sub division of the wider Garhajis and in extension Isaaq clan-family. Although they no longer hold any authority, they are the royal house of Somaliland and are viewed as a favoured symbol in the country. In July 2021, Sultan Mahamed Abdiqadir had a state funeral with nationwide media coverage and was attended by high government officials, including the president of Somaliland; Muse Bihi Abdi and foreign dignitaries.
Hassan Ali Abokor was first chief of staff of the Somaliland Armed Forces. As of 2024, he is the only national military commander who is not Habr Awal branch.
