Favor Ekah Ernest (born 13 March 2001), known professionally as Hyce, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter [1] and TikTok influencer. He rose to stardom with the release of the song "Ogechi" [2] with Boypee and Brown Joel featuring Davido on the remix [3] which peaked number 1 on official Nigeria TurnTable Top 100 songs, Top Streaming Songs, official Top Radio songs chart [4] and was ranked the most searched song lyrics of 2024 in Nigeria by Google. Hyce was born in Isikalu street, Ajegunle, Lagos State, Nigeria and hails from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, [6] he attended Heritage Nursery and Primary school, Ajegunle and Cedarville College, Ijanikin. He started music from church where his father served as a pastor, playing instruments at a young age. [7]
Hyce began his professional music career in 2020 and released his debut single, "Owo" in 2021, featuring Soundz. In December 2022, Hyce gained recognition with the release of "Vanilla" which became a viral hit on TikTok, generating over one million user-generated content posts. [8] In May 2024, Hyce collaborated with Boypee & Brown Joel on their hit single titled "Ogechi" [9] and the remix featuring Davido [10] which peaked number 1 on official Nigeria TurnTable Top 100 songs, Top Streaming Songs and top Radio songs chart. [11] On 11 December 2024, Ogechi was ranked as the most searched song lyrics of 2024 in Nigeria by Google On 14 June, 2024, he ranked at number 3 on TurnTable's NXT Emerging Top Artistes for 9 weeks. [12] On 3 January 2025, he ranked at number 9 on TurnTable's Official Artistes Top 100 and spent 32 weeks. [13] In an interview with This Day journalist Sunday Ehigiator, [14] Hyce recounted an experience involving Nigerian artist Davido. He explained that one evening, Boypee informed him that Davido was interested in collaborating on the track "Ogechi" [15] The meeting took place at Davido's residence two nights before his wedding to Chioma. According to Hyce, [16] Davido expressed excitement about the project, stating, This will be released on my wedding day [17] On 2 September 2024, Hyce collaborated with Boypee & Brown Joel yet on another single titled "Constantly" which peaked at 34 on official Nigeria TurnTable Top 100 songs on September 6th, 2024 and spent 2 weeks. The Headies 2012 was the 7th edition of The Headies. It was hosted by M.I and Omawumi. The ceremony took place on 20 October 2012, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. The aforementioned hosts thrilled fans with their song titled "The Headies". Chidinma opened the show by performing her song "Kedike". The Okoye brothers won a total of three awards. The Artiste of the Year award went to Wizkid. Tiwa Savage and Wande Coal won the Best Male and Female Vocal Performance categories, respectively. Afrobeats, not to be confused with Afrobeat or Afroswing, is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing out of Nigeria and Ghana. Genres such as hiplife, jùjú music, highlife, azonto music, and naija beats, among others, were amalgamated under the "Afrobeats" umbrella.

"Peru" was written by Fireboy DML, Ivory Scott, & Kolten Perine and produced by Shizzi & Perine. The song is not about the country of Peru, but rather a reference to Nigerian singer Peruzzi; the government of Peru nonetheless reacted positively to the song on Twitter.

The song charted across Europe, reaching number one on the Belgian Ultratop 50, Dutch Top 40 and Dutch Single Top 100.
