The Hyundai HCD-11 Nuvis Concept is a concept car designed at the company's California Design Center in Irvine, California. The vehicle was unveiled in the 2009 New York Auto Show. [1]
The design concept was inspired by the interplay of natural, fluid elements with more rigid surfaces and structures to create the illusion of constant motion. [2]
One of its more unusual features is its upwards-opening doors, which are especially rare on SUVs. It is also a hybrid vehicle.
The concept's features include 22-inch wheels and gullwing doors.
Interior seating fabric was provided by True Textiles, which was made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled polyester – reclaimed soda bottles – and increasingly sustainable manufacturing processes. Matching seatbelts are provided by Harveys Original Seatbeltbags.
The vehicle was powered by a parallel hybrid system, featuring 2.4-liter Theta II engine and a 205 N⋅m (151 lb⋅ft) electric motor with total rating of 228 hp (estimated), 6-speed automatic transmission, 270 Volt/5.3Ah lithium polymer battery pack.

Hyundai Motor Company, often abbreviated to Hyundai Motors and commonly known as Hyundai, is a South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is an annual auto show held in Detroit, Michigan, U.S., at Huntington Place. The show was held in January from 1989 to 2019. It was intended to move to the summer in 2020, but it has been suspended since due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. It is among the largest auto shows in North America. UPI says the show is "regarded as the foremost venue for [car] manufacturers to unveil new products".
The Hyundai Tucson is a compact crossover SUV (C-segment) produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 2004. In the brand's lineup, the Tucson is positioned below the Santa Fe, and above the Kona and Creta. It is named after the city of Tucson, Arizona. The second-generation model has been marketed as the Hyundai ix35 in several markets, including Europe, Australia and China, before reverting to Tucson for the third-generation.
The Hyundai Elantra, also known as the Hyundai Avante, is a compact car produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 1990. The Elantra was initially marketed as the Lantra in Australia and some European markets. In Australia, this was due to the similarly named Mitsubishi Magna Elante model; similarly, in other markets, the name Avante is not used due to its similarity with Audi's "Avant" designation, which is used for their line-up of station wagons. The Hyundai Sonata is a mid-size car that has been manufactured by Hyundai since 1985. The first generation Sonata, which was introduced in 1985, was a facelifted Hyundai Stellar with an engine upgrade, and was withdrawn from the market in two years due to poor customer reaction. The Kia K5, formerly known as the Kia Optima, is a mid-size car manufactured by Kia since 2000 and marketed globally through various nameplates. The Lexus LF line is a series of concept cars built by Lexus, the luxury vehicle division of Toyota Motor Corporation. The "LF" designation refers to Lexus Future. The LF Series vehicles features coupes/convertibles, including: the LF-A, the LF-A Roadster, LF-LC, LF-CC, and the LF-C; sedans: the LF-S, LF-Sh, and LF-Gh; crossover SUVs: the LF-X and LF-Xh; and hatchbacks: the LF-Ch. The first concept vehicle of the LF Series, the LF-X, appeared in 2003. The LF Series utilizes L-finesse, a design philosophy named for "Leading Edge" and "finesse", which debuted on the LF Series concepts and later extended to all new production Lexus vehicles. New vehicle technologies on the LF Series include advanced instrumentation, multiple driver-selected vehicle configurations, hybrid and experimental powertrains, and unconventional driver interface designs. The vehicles also feature new design cues which derive from the L-finesse design language of "Intriguing Elegance" (純), "Incisive Simplicity" (妙), and "Seamless Anticipation" (予). Several of the LF concept vehicles have appeared close to their production counterparts, while the design cues of other LF concepts appeared on more distinctly different production vehicles.
The Hyundai HCD6 was a mid-engine roadster concept car made by the Hyundai Motor Company. The HCD6 was first unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show on February 7, 2001. The car was styled by the Hyundai California Design Studio and it was described by Hyundai as an "affordable exotic". Exterior styling features on the HCD6 include body sides shaped to direct air to the engine compartment, a single roll bar integrated into the center console, floating carbon-fiber bumpers, a 3-stage DuPont Mysteria paint system, see-through engine cover and a unique lighting system with driving lights that turn with the wheels. The HCD6 is powered by a 2.7 liter Hyundai Delta V6, which is also found in the first-generation Hyundai Santa Fe.

The Hyundai Genesis is an executive four-door, five passenger, rear or all-wheel-drive full-size luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by Hyundai. Introduced in concept form at the 2007 New York International Auto Show, and internally designated as the BH model, the Genesis was expected to cost $533 million to develop. On 4 November 2015, Hyundai officially separated Genesis into its own luxury division, Genesis Motor. The leap into a stand-alone, luxury brand came on the heels of marked success in the luxury market, paired with consumer demand for the Genesis name.

John Krsteski is an American automobile designer, automotive artist, painter and Chief Designer at Genesis, North America. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, he studied transportation design at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. While at CCS, Krsteski elected also to study painting.
The Hyundai i-oniq was a concept sporty three-door hatchback designed and built by Hyundai Motor Corporation that featured a battery electric powertrain supplemented by a range extending gasoline engine, introduced in March 2012 at the Geneva Motor Show. Its name is a portmanteau of the words "ion" and "unique", which was later reused in 2016 when Hyundai began selling the Hyundai Ioniq. Hyundai subsequently launched the sub-brand Ioniq in 2020 to market electric vehicles built on the E-GMP architecture.
