IADT - Tampa was a for-profit college offering both bachelor and associate degrees in many different fields of study. The former Sears executive Clem Stein established the original International Academy of Design and Technology in Chicago in 1977. The Tampa location opened in 1984. [1] IADT's holding company, Career Education Corporation, merged the school under the Sanford-Brown College name in March 2014 [2] before closing the location a year later. [3]

Bachelor and associate degrees

At IADT - Tampa, students could choose to earn either an associate or a bachelor's degree in four different areas of study: fashion design and marketing, interior design, graphic design or digital production. Other bachelor's degrees offered include computer animation, audio production, fashion merchandising and advertising design. [4]

Admissions

The requirements for admission into the academy included a personal interview, a high school diploma or equivalent, and completion of an application, enrollment agreement and financial aid forms. Financial aid is available for those who qualify. [5]

Campus

The new campus located at 3725 Grace Street, in incorporated South Tampa near suburban areas, the campus is close to the I275 on-ramp on Dale Mabry Highway. It has access to public transportation and is a few miles south of Raymond James Stadium and west of downtown Tampa. The campus is new for IADT and the full list of amenities is not yet available. Orlando Culinary Academy is a branch campus in Orlando.

Accreditation

The International Academy of Design & Technology is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to award associate and bachelor's degrees. [6] The academy's Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in interior design is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation. [7]

Controversy

The International Academy of Design & Technology is the subject of a class action lawsuit by its students, suing for deceptive and unfair practices. [8]

The school ran on 5 week modules continuously throughout the year, with week breaks in July and December.

American InterContinental University Educational institute based in U.S.

American InterContinental University (AIU) is a private for-profit university with its headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. It employs open admissions and is owned by Perdoceo Education Corporation. AIU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission to award associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees.

Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago

Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago was a for-profit art and culinary school, which briefly operated as a non-profit institution before it closed in 2018. The school was one of a number of Art Institutes, a franchise of for-profit art colleges with many branches in North America, owned and operated by Education Management Corporation. EDMC owned the college from 1975 until 2017, when, facing significant financial problems and declining enrollment, the company sold the Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago, along with 30 other Art Institute schools, to Dream Center Education, a Los Angeles-based Pentecostal organization.

Katharine Gibbs College was a for-profit institution of higher learning based in the United States of America, founded by Katharine Gibbs.

Westwood College

Westwood College was a private for-profit college owned by Alta Colleges Inc. with 15 campus locations in five states and online learning options. Westwood was nationally accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). Since its inception in 1986, Westwood graduated more than 37,000 students. The college closed in March 2016.

NewSchool of Architecture and Design

NewSchool of Architecture & Design (NewSchool) is a private for-profit college in San Diego that focuses on architecture and design. NewSchool comprises two schools: The School of Architecture and Construction Management houses the undergraduate and graduate architecture and construction management programs while the School of Design at NewSchool offers undergraduate design degrees. The school is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and offers Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch), Master of Architecture (M.Arch).

Sanford–Brown was a division of the Career Education Corporation, a proprietary, for-profit higher education organization.

The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale

The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale is a former for-profit art and culinary school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida which closed in 2018. The school was one of a number of Art Institutes, a franchise of for-profit art colleges with many branches in North America, owned and operated by Education Management Corporation. EDMC owned the college from 1973 until 2017, when, facing declining enrollment and accreditation issues at some of its schools, the company sold the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, along with other properties, to Dream Center Education, a Los Angeles-based Pentecostal organization. Dream Center Education planned to operate the school, along with others it acquired, as a non-profit. The plan proved unsustainable, with Dream Center permanently closing 18 Art Institute schools, including Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, at the end of 2018.

The Art Institute of York – Pennsylvania was a for-profit college, part of The Art Institutes, a system of over 35 education institutions throughout North America, providing education in design, media arts, fashion and culinary arts.

International Academy of Design and Technology - San Antonio was one location of the International Academy of Design and Technology. It was a for-profit college offering specialized associate degrees in various types of design.

The Orlando Culinary Academy (OCA) was a culinary and hospitality training school and an affiliate of Le Cordon Bleu Schools North America. The Academy was established in January 2002 and was located in Orlando, Florida. OCA is a branch campus of the International Academy of Design and Technology's Tampa division. In July 2007, the Orlando Culinary Academy was named College of the Year by the Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools and Colleges Conference. All US Le Cordon Bleu College locations closed in 2017.

Everglades University, formerly known as the American Flyers College, is a private university with its main campus in Boca Raton, Florida, and several other campuses throughout the state. Everglades offers bachelor's and master's degree programs, both via online and on-campus.

Coleman University

Coleman University was a private university focused on Information Technology education and located in San Diego, California. Coleman had a technology-based curriculum with undergraduate, graduate, and distance education academic programs. Previously accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, Coleman University was a candidate for accreditation by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The university closed in 2018 due to financial troubles and the lost bid for regional accreditation.

The University of South Asia or USA is a private university located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It was established in 1987 as a computer training institution with the name of National College of Computer Sciences (NCCS). More than 100,000 students underwent training programs in Computer Sciences. Southern Technical College is a private for profit technical college with multiple locations in Florida. It provides diploma and associate degree programs. It was founded in 2001.

National University (California) Private university in the United States

National University (NU) is a private university with its headquarters in San Diego, California. Founded in 1971, National University offers academic degree programs at campuses throughout California, a satellite campus in Nevada, and various programs online. Programs at National University are designed for adult learners. On-campus classes are typically blended learning courses, concentrated to four weeks or on weeknights with occasional Saturday classes. The university uses asynchronous learning and real-time virtual classrooms for its online programs.
