The IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) is a society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) that focuses on the "development of power electronics technology". [1] [2]

A learned society is an organisation that exists to promote an academic discipline, profession, or a group of related disciplines such as the arts. Membership may be open to all, may require possession of some qualification, or may be an honour conferred by election.

History

The society was founded on January 1, 1983 by establishing the "IEEE Power Electronics Council". On February 2, 1988 the council changed its name to "IEEE Power Electronics Society". [3]

Publications

The IEEE PELS publishes a peer-reviewed publication known as the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics [4] that focuses on its field of interest.

Conferences

The IEEE PELS sponsors a number of annual conferences [5] around that world that focus on its field of Interest.

The Government College of Engineering, Adoor (CEA) is a college in Adoor, Pathanamthitta District, Kerala, India, located 3 km from the town centre at Manakkala. The IEEE Student Branch of the District University of Bogotá is the first Colombian student branch affiliated with the IEEE. It is headquartered in the classroom 402 of the Faculty of Engineering of the District University of Bogotá, and is in continuous operation since October 16, 1962.
