The Plaque of Merit is awarded to institutions and organisations outside the IHF.
There are two levels: gold and silver.
The Plaque of Merit in Gold recognises above-average services, over many years, to the development of handball and/or in association with the IHF.

The Plaque of Merit in Silver is awarded for particular contributions to the development of handball and/or in association with the IHF.
The recipients are selected and the plaques awarded by the Council. The Executive Committee, the Council, the continental federations and member federations are all entitled to suggest recipients for the awards.

The Pan-American Team Handball Federation (PATHF) has been the continental governing body for handball, beach handball, wheelchair handball and snow handball in Americas since 23 May 1977. PATHF includes North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. PATHF's primary functions is to organize competitions for national teams and clubs, and to conduct Men's World Handball Championship and Women's World Handball Championship qualifying tournaments.
The Kuwait national handball team is controlled by the Kuwait Handball Association. It is highly regarded as one of the most successful national handball teams in Asia and the Arab World. Kuwait has enjoyed great handball success at both the national and club level. The sport is widely considered to be the national icon of Kuwait, although football is more popular among the overall population. Kuwait's golden decade existed from the late 1990s to the late 2000s. Kuwait is also the founding member of the Asian Handball Federation, the Asian Championship and Club Champions League.
Sławomir Szmal is a former Polish handball player, who played for the Poland men's national handball team, a participant in the Olympic Games Beijing 2008, and a medalist in the World Championship. Szmal is currently the goalkeeping coach of the Polish national team.
The International Handball Federation (IHF) is the administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball. IHF is responsible for the organisation of handball's major international tournaments, notably the IHF World Men's Handball Championship, which commenced in 1938, and the IHF World Women's Handball Championship, which commenced in 1957.
Linn-Kristin Riegelhuth Koren is a retired Norwegian handball player for the Norwegian national team, who last played for Larvik HK. She is commonly known as Linka. Outside handball she is a qualified nurse.

The Hans Baumann Trophy, which was endowed by the Spanish members of the IHF, commemorates the late President of the IHF, Hans Baumann. It is awarded to IHF member federations from 1972 to 2015. In 2017, the IHF Council decided to reform and rename it as the IHF President's Development Award.
The IHF Certificate of Merit is awarded to individuals working outside the International Handball Federation in recognition of their particular contribution to promoting the sport of handball.
The IHF Badge of Merit is awarded by International Handball Federation to individuals who made an extraordinary contribution to the development of handball.
The Council of the IHF is entitled and has the duty to suggest to the IOC eminent personalities for the award of the Olympic Order in recognition of their outstanding merit and success in the development of handball in their own country, their many years of close collaborative links with the IHF and their dedicated service to the Olympic Movement.

Cristian Ugalde García is a Spanish professional handball player for Tatabánya KC and the Spain national team.
The handball tournaments at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held from 6 to 21 August at the Future Arena in the Barra Olympic Park. The tournaments were won by Denmark in the men's competition and Russia for the women's tournament. The French teams for both competitions finished with the silver medal, and the bronze went to Germany and Norway, respectively.
Hans Baumann was a Swiss architect and sports administrator who was one of the founding members of the International Handball Federation (IHF). He served as the second President of the IHF from 1950 to 1971.
IHF Honorary President and Honorary Members is an award established by the International Handball Federation. It is awarded by the IHF Congress to individuals who have rendered outstanding services to the international handball.
IHF President's Development Award is awarded by the International Handball Federation to its member federations for the spread and development of handball in their own countries and/or through the world. It is awarded by the IHF President or his representative every two year at the IHF Congress.

It is affiliated to the International Handball Federation (IHF).
The 2025 IHF World Women's Handball Championship will be 27th edition of the championship to be jointly hosted by Germany and the Netherlands under the aegis of International Handball Federation (IHF) from 27 November to 14 December 2025. It will be fourth time in history that the championship is jointly hosted. Catch the Dream will be the official motto of the competition.
