Gaining recognition by starring as Jimmy Brooks in the CTV teen drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation (2001–2008), Drake began his recording career in 2006 with the release of his debut mixtape, Room for Improvement (2006). He followed up with the mixtapes Comeback Season (2007) and So Far Gone (2009) before signing with Young Money Entertainment.

Majid Jordan is a Canadian-Bahraini R&B duo, consisting of singer Majid Al Maskati and producer Jordan Ullman from Toronto, Ontario. They formed in 2011 and signed to OVO Sound, the record label co-founded by rapper Drake, producer Noah "40" Shebib and Oliver El-Khatib, releasing their debut EP, A Place Like This, in 2014.

Diamanté Anthony Blackmon, known professionally as Gordo and formerly known as Carnage, is a Nicaraguan-American disc jockey, record producer, and former rapper. Born in Washington, DC and raised by Nicaraguan parents. He first gained recognition for his DJ mixes and live performances at music festivals such as Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival. He began releasing EDM singles in 2012 and occasionally performed as a recording artist; however, he has since retired from doing so, along with his Carnage stage name in favor of Gordo in 2022, after which he began working solely in production for other artists.

The album was announced prior to Peep's death by him on Twitter and Instagram. However, the project entered development hell after his death and had several false starts before its eventual release in 2023. The album was supported by one single: "November". It serves as Lil Peep's third and final studio album, as well as iLoveMakonnen's final studio album before he announced his retirement on September 5, 2024.
