Ian Fuller (born August 31, 1979) is an American former soccer player who currently serves as the head coach for One Knoxville in USL League One.

Career

Youth and college

Fuller grew up in Tualatin, Oregon, and attended Tualatin High School where he was a three-time first team All State soccer player. He then played college soccer at Clemson University from 1998 to 2001. [1]

Professional

Fuller was drafted in the second round (21st overall) of the 2002 MLS SuperDraft by New England Revolution. He played eleven regular season and three playoff games before being waived on November 4, 2002. In February 2003, he signed with the Rochester Rhinos of the USL First Division. [2] Fuller spent the 2003 and 2004 seasons in Rochester, and played the first two games of the 2005 season, before moving to the Vancouver Whitecaps. In 2006, Fuller signed with the Charleston Battery. After four years with the club he moved to USSF Division 2 club Austin Aztex. [3] With the sale and movement of the Austin Aztex to Orlando following the end of the 2010 season, Fuller was retained by the club, becoming a member of Orlando City in January 2011. [4]

Coaching

Beginning in 2010 Fuller also began working as assistant coach for the Charleston Battery of the USL Second Division (USL-2). [5] He would continue his coaching career as a player-coach and assistant for Orlando City SC in 2011. [4] In September 2013, Fuller retired as a player to become a full-time assistant for Orlando City. [6]

Fuller was named head coach for USL League One club One Knoxville in December 2024. [7] [8]

Orlando City Soccer Club was an American professional soccer team based in Orlando, Florida, United States, that was the precursor to Orlando City SC. The team played in USL Pro, the third tier of the American soccer pyramid from 2010 to 2014, until discontinuing in favor of Orlando's entry to Major League Soccer (MLS), as an expansion franchise in 2015, by the same ownership group.

The 2010 Charleston Battery season was the club's seventeenth year of professional soccer. The team played in the USL Second Division (USL-2), the third tier of the American soccer pyramid, having voluntarily self-relegated from the USL First Division at the end of the 2009 season. Charleston played its home games at Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island. The team was coached by Michael Anhaeuser, in his sixth year as head coach, and was assisted by former Battery player Ian Fuller. The Battery finished the regular season in first place with a record of 11–4–5, 38 points, and hosted the USL-2 championship match at Blackbaud Stadium on August 28, 2010. Charleston finished the regular season without a home defeat. The Battery defeated the Richmond Kickers 2–1 to win their third league title. Lamar Neagle led the USL-2 in scoring with 13 league goals and was named the league MVP. Battery manager Mike Anhaeuser was named the league's manager of the year.

The USL Championship (USLC) is a professional men's soccer league in the United States that began play in 2011. The USL is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) as a Division II league since 2017, placing it under Major League Soccer in the hierarchy. The USL is headquartered in Tampa, Florida.

The 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup was the 98th edition of the USSF's annual national soccer championship, running from June through early October. The 2012 Orlando City SC season was the club's second season of existence. It is City's second consecutive year in the third tier of American soccer, playing in the USL Professional Division for their second season. In the 2011 season, Orlando City won the regular season and the playoffs. As of the 1 March 2012, there are approximately 3,500 season ticket holders for the 2012 season. They ended the season with winning the league title for the second consecutive year, but they lost in the Playoffs to the Wilmington Hammerheads in the Semi-final 3–4.

The 2013 Orlando City Soccer Club season was the club's third season of existence in Orlando. Orlando finished second in the overall regular-season table. They were declared 2013 USL Pro Champions after beating Charlotte Eagles 7–4 in front of 20,886 fans at the Fifth Third Bank Field at the Citrus Bowl.

The 2014 Orlando City SC season was the club's fourth season of existence in Orlando, and their final season playing in the lower divisions. A Major League Soccer expansion franchise with the same name began play in 2015. The 2015 USL season was the fifth season of the United Soccer League (USL) and the first under its new name. This season represented a substantial expansion from 14 teams in 2014 to 24 teams in 2015, and the division of the league into two conferences. It is also the 29th season of third-division soccer in the United States.

The 2016 USL season was the sixth season of the United Soccer League and the twenty-second season of USSF sanctioned Division III play organized by the United Soccer Leagues.

The Eastern Conference is one of two conferences in USL Championship soccer.
