Ibrahim Bunu is a Nigerian architect and Minister of the Federal Capital territory (FCT),Nigeria at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic,holding office from May 1999 until February 2001 in the cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo. He was replaced by Engineer Mohammed Abba Gana,also of Borno State,in a cabinet reshuffle in February 2001. [1]
Bunu was born on 25 December 1950 in Ngala,Borno State. In 1982 he was appointed Minister of State,Housing and Environment. [2] Bunu designed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Towers in Abuja. [3]
In April 2008 the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) summoned Bunu and other former FCT ministers to defend their actions with respect to land allocations,revocations and sale of Federal Government houses during their tenure. [4]
In March 2010 President Goodluck Jonathan set up a Federal Projects Assessment Committee headed by Bunu "to assess and provide necessary information on the status of on-going Federal Government projects across the nation." [5] Bunu immediately came under pressure to explain how he could probe "ongoing projects" that started during his administration of the FCT. [3]
Abuja is the capital and sixth most populous city of Nigeria. Situated in the middle of the country within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),it is a planned city built mainly in the 1980s based on a master plan by International Planning Associates (IPA),a consortium of three American planning and architecture firms made up of Wallace,Roberts,McHarg &Todd as the lead,Archi systems International,and Planning Research Corporation. The Central Business District of Abuja was designed by Japanese architect Kenzo Tange. It replaced Lagos,the country's most populous city,as the capital on 12 December 1991.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is a federal territory in central Nigeria. Abuja,the capital city of Nigeria,is located in this territory. The FCT was formed in 1976 from parts of the states of old Kaduna,Kwara,Niger,and Plateau states,with the bulk of land mass carved out of Niger state. The Federal Capital Territory is within the North Central region of the country. Unlike other states of Nigeria,which are headed by elected Governors,it is administered by the Federal Capital Territory Administration,headed by a minister,who is appointed by the president.
The National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is a bicameral legislature established under section 4 of the Nigerian Constitution. It consists of a Senate with 109 members and a House of Representatives with 360. The body,modeled after the federal Congress of the United States,is supposed to guarantee equal representation with 3 senators to each 36 states irrespective of size in the Senate plus 1 senator representing the Federal Capital Territory and single-member district,plurality voting in the House of Representatives. The National Assembly,like many other organs of the Nigerian federal government is based in Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory.
The Aso Villa is the workplace and official residence of the President of Nigeria since 1991,when Nigeria moved its capital from Lagos to Abuja. It is located at Yakubu Gowon Crescent,The Three Arms Zone,Asokoro,Abuja,FCT,Nigeria. Several names that are used for Aso Villa include:State House,The Rock and The Villa. The Aso Rock Villa is the most protected presidential state house in Africa. The Villa hosts the offices of the President and Vice President and it is the seat of power of the Federal Government of Nigeria. It is heavily protected by the Presidential Guard Brigade (Nigeria) and the State Security Service (Nigeria).
Aliyu Modibbo Umar is a Nigerian technocrat who currently serves as the Special Adviser on General Duties to the Vice President of Nigeria,Kashim Shettima. He previously served as the federal Minister of State for Power and Steel from December 2002 to May 2003,Minister of Commerce from July 2006 to July 2007,then Minister for the FCT,a post he held until October 2008.

The election will coincide with the 2023 presidential election,as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives;with state elections being held two weeks later.
