Hotel New York is the fourth studio album recorded by the Dutch pop/rock singer Anouk and released on December 3, 2004, in the Netherlands. The album is named for the location where Anouk wrote all its songs: Hotel New York in Rotterdam. Debuting at number one, the album was a major success, staying at that top spot for twelve weeks. "Hotel New York" remained on the Dutch albums chart for eighty-seven weeks, eventually going triple platinum. In Belgium, the album spent a week at number one and stayed in the top 50 for 72 weeks. The first single off the album "Girl" peaked at number two on the Dutch Top 40, and so did "Lost", the second single. The third single "Jerusalem" peaked at number twenty and the final single "One Word" peaked again at number two.

"Three Days in a Row" is the first official single of Anouk's sixth album For Bitter or Worse. It was released in August 2009. The song was written by Anouk, Martin Gjerstad and Tore Johansson. The song reached the peak position in both the Dutch Top 40 and the Mega Single Top 100. It also reached the number-one position in the 3FM Megatop 50 and stayed there for five weeks. In Flanders, the song reached the 19th position in the Ultratop 50.

The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Birds" written by Tore Johansson, Martin Gjerstad and Anouk Teeuwe. The song was performed by Anouk, which is the artistic name of singer Anouk Teeuwe who was internally selected by the Dutch broadcaster Televisie Radio Omroep Stichting (TROS) to represent the Netherlands at the 2013 contest in Malmö, Sweden. Anouk's appointment as the Dutch representative was announced on 17 October 2012, while the song, "Birds", was presented to the public on 11 March 2013.
