Anouk Schemmekes, professionally known by the mononym Anouk, is a Dutch singer and songwriter. After her 1997 breakthrough rock single "Nobody's Wife", she had additional hit records in the Dutch and Belgian charts. Many of her albums topped the Dutch album charts, most of them going Platinum and several debuting in the number 1 position. Her most famous singles include "R U Kiddin' Me", "Michel", "Girl", "Lost", "Modern World", "Three Days in a Row", "Birds", and "Woman".
"Haba Haba" is a song performed by Norwegian-Kenyan singer-songwriter Stella Mwangi. It was Norway's entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 and is included on her second studio album Kinanda (2011). The song was chosen using a mix of televoting, jury votes and an audience vote at the Oslo Spektrum during the national Eurovision pre-selection show Melodi Grand Prix on 12 February 2011. It was made available for digital download a day before its initial performance in the third semi-final. "Haba Haba" debuted at number nine in its first week of release, before progressing to number one for four consecutive weeks in the Norwegian singles chart. Denmark participated in and won the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Only Teardrops" written by Lise Cabble, Julia Fabrin Jakobsen and Thomas Stengaard. The song was performed by Emmelie de Forest. The Danish broadcaster DR organised the national final Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2013 in order to select the Danish entry for the 2013 contest in Malmö, Sweden. Ten songs competed in a televised show where "Only Teardrops" performed by Emmelie de Forest was the winner as decided upon through the combination of jury voting and public voting over two rounds.

Iceland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Ég á líf" written by Örlygur Smári, Pétur Örn Guðmundsson. The song was performed by Eythor Ingi. The Icelandic entry for the 2013 contest in Malmö, Sweden was selected through the national final Söngvakeppnin 2013, organised by the Icelandic broadcaster Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV). The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) organised the national final Melodi Grand Prix 2013 in order to select the Norwegian entry for the 2013 contest in Malmö, Sweden. 21 entries competed in the national final that consisted of three semi-finals and a final. Ten entries ultimately qualified to compete in the final on 9 February 2013 where the winner was determined over two rounds of voting. In the first round of voting, a public televote exclusively selected the top four entries to advance to the competition's second round—the Gold Final. In the second round of voting, "I Feed You My Love" performed by Margaret Berger was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from three regional jury groups and a public vote.
Belgium participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Love Kills" written by Jukka Immonen and Iain James. The song was performed by Roberto Bellarosa, who was internally selected by the Walloon broadcaster Radio Télévision Belge de la Communauté Française (RTBF) in November 2014 to represent the nation at the 2013 contest in Malmö, Sweden. The national final consisted of three shows: two semi-finals on 23 and 24 February 2013, respectively, and a final on 9 March 2013. A total of thirty-two entries were selected and sixteen competed in each semi-final where six entries were selected to advance to the final. The twelve qualifiers competed in the final where "It's My Life" performed by Cezar was selected as the winner after scoring top marks from a seven-member jury panel and a public televote.

Had only the jury votes been counted in the Eurovision final, Stjernberg would have been placed third. Sad Singalong Songs is the eighth studio album by Dutch singer Anouk. The album was released on 17 May 2013 by her own record label Goldilox. On 27 December 2012, Anouk released the song "Stardust" via her own YouTube-channel as a preview to her new sound. It was also available as a free download. The album is preceded by the single "Birds", which she performed at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö. Anouk herself revealed the cover art and track listing on her official website.

"City Lights" is a song performed by Belgian singer Blanche. The song represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, and it finished in 4th place in the grand final on 13 May 2017. The song was intended to be released as a digital download on 8 March 2017 through PIAS Belgium, but leaked through Spotify the night before.
