"Slow Down" is a song performed by Dutch singer Douwe Bob. The song represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, and was written by Bob along with Jan Peter Hoekstra, Jeroen Overman, and Matthijs van Duijvenbode. [1] The song was released as a digital download on 5 March 2016 through Universal Music Netherlands as the lead single from his album Fool Bar . [2]

Eurovision Song Contest

Douwe Bob was announced as the Dutch entrant to the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 by Dutch media on 20 September 2015. [3] [4] Two days later, he confirmed the news during the Dutch talk show De Wereld Draait Door . [5] "Slow Down" was revealed as his Eurovision entry on 4 March 2016 during a press conference in Amsterdam. [6] [1] The song was released as a digital download the day after. [2] He performed in the first half of the semi-final. [7] He got through the semi-final and performed in the grande final on Saturday 14 May 2016, coming in 11th place with 153 points.

The Netherlands were present at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow, sending their 50th entry. Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS), the Dutch broadcaster, sent De Toppers to Moscow after they were internally selected. The competing song was selected at Nationaal Songfestival contest on 1 February, where "Shine" was announced the winner.

The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Calm After the Storm", written by Ilse DeLange, JB Meijers, Rob Crosby, Matthew Crosby and Jake Etheridge. The song was performed by the Common Linnets, a duo consisting of DeLange and Waylon, two well-known and popular Dutch artists, and formed by DeLange as a platform for Dutch artists to create country, Americana, and bluegrass music. In November 2013 the Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS announced that they had internally selected The Common Linnets to represent the Netherlands at the 2014 contest in Copenhagen, Denmark, with their song first presented to the public in March 2014.

The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Walk Along" written by Anouk Teeuwe and Tobias Karlsson. The song was performed by Trijntje Oosterhuis, who was selected by the Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS in November 2014 to represent the Netherlands at the 2015 contest in Vienna, Austria. "Walk Along" was written by 2013 Contest entrant Anouk who also first revealed that Oosterhuis had been selected to represent the Netherlands while being interviewed for the Dutch talkshow College Tour. Following confirmation from the Dutch broadcaster that Trijntje Oosterhuis had been selected to represent the Netherlands, the song "Walk Along" was revealed to public in December 2014. In the first of the Eurovision semi-finals, the Netherlands failed to qualify to the final, placing fourteenth out of the 16 participating countries with 33 points.

AVROTROS

AVROTROS is a Dutch radio and television broadcaster that is part of the Dutch public broadcasting system. It was founded in 2014 as the result of a merger between the Algemene Vereniging Radio Omroep (AVRO) and the Televisie Radio Omroep Stichting (TROS). The name AVROTROS has been used for jointly produced programmes since 1 January 2014. Since 7 September 2014, all existing AVRO and TROS programmes have also been broadcast under the name AVROTROS.

Douwe Bob Musical artist

Douwe Bob Posthuma, professionally known by only his first and middle names Douwe Bob, is a Dutch singer-songwriter. He won the Dutch talent show De beste singer-songwriter van Nederland. He specializes in folk and country music and he has released four albums. He represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

Fool Bar is the third studio album by Dutch singer-songwriter Douwe Bob. It was released in the Netherlands on 6 May 2016, through Universal Music Group. The album peaked at number 2 on the Dutch Albums Chart. The album includes the single "Slow Down", the song represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The album was produced by Matthijs van Duijvenbode and Kasper Frenkel.

The Netherlands participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 which took place in Valletta, Malta on 20 November 2016. The Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS, was responsible for the organisation of their representative at the contest. The band, Kisses, a trio consisting of three girls: Kymora, Stefania and Sterre, were chosen internally by the Dutch broadcaster on 27 May 2016. Kisses performed their song "Kisses and Dancin'".

Outlaw in Em

"Outlaw in 'Em" is a song written by Jim Beavers, Waylon and Ilya Toshinskiy and performed by Dutch singer Waylon. It represented Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal. The single was released on 2 March 2018.

The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Duncan Laurence was internally selected by the Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS on 21 January 2019 to represent the nation at the 2019 contest in Tel Aviv, Israel. Duncan Laurence eventually became the sixty-seventh winner of the Eurovision Song Contest and the first Dutch entry to win the contest in 44 years. The Netherlands received a total of 498 points, with 261 points from the public and 237 points from the professional juries.

Eurovision Song Contest 2020 Cancelled Eurovision Song Contest edition

The Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was planned to be the 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It would have taken place in Rotterdam, Netherlands, following the country's victory at the 2019 contest with the song "Arcade" by Duncan Laurence. The contest was cancelled on 18 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the first time in the contest's 64-year history that an edition was not held. Rotterdam remained host of the 2021 contest on 18, 20 and 22 May 2021; however, the songs selected for the 2020 contest were not eligible for the competition.

The Netherlands is scheduled to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, having internally selected S10 to represent the country with the song "De diepte".
