"Heartbeat" is a song performed by Latvian singer Justs. The song represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, and was written by previous Latvian Eurovision entrant Aminata Savadogo. [1] The song was released as a digital download on 3 February 2016 through Aminata Music. [2]

Eurovision Song Contest

On 31 January 2016, Sirmais was announced as one of the twenty competing acts in the second season of Supernova , with the song "Heartbeat". [3] [4] In the first heat on 7 February, Sirmais advanced to the semi-final after winning over 40% of the televote. [5] He competed in the semi-final on 21 February and advanced to the final through televoting. [6] He later won the final on 28 February with 20,725 votes. [1] Justs represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, performing in the first half of the second semi-final, and received enough points to perform at the finals. [7] There, the song achieved 15th place out of 26 finalists. [8]

Supernova is a Latvian music entertainment show created by the Latvian broadcaster, LTV. It is currently used as the Latvian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Cyprus participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Alter Ego" written by Minus One and Thomas G:son. The song was performed by the band Minus One, which was selected by the Cypriot broadcaster Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) in November 2015 to represent Cyprus at the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. The Cypriot song, "Alter Ego", was presented to the public on 22 February 2016.

Israel participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Made of Stars" written by Doron Medalie. The song was performed by Hovi Star. Israeli broadcaster Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) collaborated with the commercial broadcaster Keshet in order to select the Israeli entry for the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. The reality singing competition HaKokhav HaBa L'Eirovizion, which was organised by Keshet and Tedy Productions, was used to select the Israeli entry. In the semi-finals on 3, 10 and 17 February 2018, two entries were selected to advance from each show alongside two wildcards selected by LTV. The Latvian broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) organized the national final Supernova 2020 in order to select the Latvian entry for the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Nine songs were selected to compete in the national final on 8 February 2020 where a public televote exclusively selected "Still Breathing" performed by Samanta Tīna as the winner.

Samanta Tīna was announced as the Latvian representative on 2 April 2020 after she was due to compete in the 2020 contest with "Still Breathing" before the 2020 event's cancellation.
