Ilgiz Tantashev (born April 5, 1984) is an Uzbek football referee. [1]
He began his refereeing career as a line referee. [2] He subsequently became the head referee for matches in the Uzbekistan Higher League, representing Bukhara. He was also invited to officiate matches in Saudi Arabian and Indian Championships. He refereed the final match of 2019 Uzbekistan League Cup. [3]
A FIFA referee since 2013. [4] He began refereeing at the international level in 2014, making his debut at the AFC Cup and the following year in AFC Champions League. He refereed matches at the Asian Under-23 Championship in 2016, 2020, and 2022. He was a fourth official at the 2019 World Under-23 Championship.. At the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, he was a reserve referee. [5] Tantashev served as the head referee at the 2019 and 2023 Asian Championships. [6]
Based on the results of 2021, he was recognized as the best referee in Uzbekistan. [7]
He refereed friendly matches involving Russia national team: in 2022 – with Tajikistan and in 2023 – with Iran. [8] [9]
In 2024, he was invited to referee matches at the Olympic Games. [10] During the semi-final match between Morocco and Spain, Ilgiz Tantashev was injured in the 12th minute after a collision with defender Marc Pubill. As a result, Glenn Nyberg (Sweden) refereed the remainder of the match. [11]
