Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya (IKSV), also Indira Kala Sangeet University, [2] is a public university located in Khairagarh, Rajnandgaon district, Chhattisgarh, India.
In 1956, Maharaja Birendra Bahadur Singh and maharani Padmavati Devi, the then King and Queen of the princely state of Khairagarh, donated their palace to open a university of music, dance and visual arts. [3] The university was named after their deceased daughter, Indira Devi, who died young and had been both fond of and accomplished in music. [3] It claims to be Asia's first musical university. [3]
The institution was run under the Government of Madhya Pradesh until the creation of the new state of Chhattisgarh in 2001. Thereafter, it is run under the Government of Chhattisgarh.

The university has collection of more than 40,000 books and a good number of audiotapes, CDs and video slides of Indian masters of Painting. Listening facilities are available for the students. The university also has a collection of works of the contemporary master painters of India, folk and tribal artists of different regions. It has a mini musical-instrument gallery having a collection of classical and folk musical instruments. There is a mini archaeological museum with a collection of regional archaeological art collections and documentation. The university provides hostel facilities to both the male and female students. Accommodations are available for overseas students as well. All teaching instructions will be provided in English for the foreign students.

The university is divided into 21 departments in five section, music, dance, visual arts, folk music and arts. [5]

Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (BSV), formerly Bhatkhande Music Institute Deemed University (2000-2022), Bhatkhande College of Hindustani Music (1966-2000) and Marris College of Music (1926-1966), is a state university in Lucknow. Established in 1926 by Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande, it was declared a deemed university by University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2000, and upgraded into a state university in 2022 by The Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya Act, 2022. It offers music education in Vocal Music, Instrumental, Rhythms, Dance, Musicology and Research and Applied Music.
Nav sadhana Kala Kendra College of Dance and Music is situated in a pollution free green suburb, near Tarna, Shivpur, of the city - Kashi in india. The college was founded in July 1996 by the catholic Bishops of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan, to promote Indian culture and music. Nav Sadhana Kala Kendra trains students in Bharatnatyam and Hindustani Vocal.
Saroja Vaidyanathan was an Indian choreographer, guru, and notable proponent of Bharatanatyam. She was conferred the Padma Shri in 2002 and the Padma Bhushan in 2013 by the Government of India.

Shanno Khurana is a noted Indian classical vocalist and composer, from the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana of Hindustani classical music. A disciple of the doyen of the gharana, Ustad Mushtaq Hussain Khan, she is known for performing rare bandish and raag, though her singing style includes genres like khayal, tarana, thumri, dadra, tappa, to chaiti and bhajan. Born and brought up in Jodhpur, she started singing on All India Radio in 1945 in Lahore, later shifted to Delhi, where she continued her singing on All India Radio, Delhi and in concerts and music festivals. She also pursued music education, finally earning her M.Phil. and PhD in music from the Kairagarh University, and has undertakes extensive research on folk music of Rajasthan.
Govind Ram Nirmalkar (1935–2014) was an Indian actor and folk theatre artist, known for his contributions to the Nacha folk theatre of Chhattisgarh. His portrayal of the protagonist in Charan Das Chor, an award winning play by Habib Tanveer, won him critical acclaim. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2009, for his contributions to Arts. He was also a recipient of the 2012 Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.

Mamta Chandrakar is a Padma Shri Awarded folk singer of Chhattisgarh. She is referred to as the Nightingale of Chhattisgarh. Mamta Chandrakar has her post graduation degree in singing from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya. Mamta Chandrakar has started singing from the age of 10 years and professionally took it as folk singer in 1977 with Aakashvani Kendra Raipur. She is a Padmashree Awardee in 2016 for her work, she has bagged several other state-level awards. Her husband Prem Chandrakar is a producer and director in Chhollywood.
Chandan Tiwari is an Indian folk singer from Bihar. She is known as folk singer and sings in Bhojpuri, Nagpuri, Awadhi and Hindi. She was awarded Sangeet Natak Academy-Bismillah Khan Samman. She was honoured by Bhojpuri Kokila in Kolkata. BAG Films-News 24 awarded her best traditional folk singer. She appeared in India Today Magazine in cover story for her contributions to Indian folk music. She has been singing in various forms of folks like Purabi Sohar, Pachra Gandhi song, River Song, Chhath Song Kajri and Thumri.
Puru Dadheech is a Kathak dancer. He is a choreographer and educator of Indian classical dance, and is known for his pioneering work in the field of Kathak. At the oldest Kathak department which was formed in 1956 at Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya Public University located in Khairagarh, Puru Dadheech instated the first Kathak syllabus in 1961. He is the holder of the first Doctorate in Kathak Classical Dance and emphasizes the relevance of Shastras in the Kathak repertoire. He was awarded Padma Shri, the 4th highest civilian award of India He is currently serving as the Director of the world's first dedicated Kathak research Centre at the Sri Sri University, Cuttack called Sri Sri Centre for Advanced Research in Kathak.
Vibha Dadheech is an Indian classical dancer in the Kathak dance form. She began learning Kathak from Raigarh Court dancer Pt. Firtu Maharaj, and later in Guru Shishya Parampara from Pt. Shambhu Maharaj as a ganda bandh shagird, living and learning at her guru’s home. She is also the senior-most disciple and wife of Puru Dadheech. Together they founded the Natavari Kathak Nritya Academy, Indore. Currently, Vibha Dadheech is serving as Professor Emeritus at world’s first dedicated Kathak Research centre at the Sri Sri University, The Sri Sri Centre for Advanced Research in Kathak.
Radhe Shyam Barle is a Panthi folk dancer and artist. In 2021, he was awarded India's fourth-highest civilian award the Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contribution in the field of art. Barle has made his contribution in promoting and disseminating the messages of Baba Guru Ghasidas through Panthi, a folk dance form in Chhattisgarh. Barle was born in 1966 in village Khola of Patan tehsil in Durg district of Chhattisgarh, India. He holds an MBBS and later completed a diploma in folk music from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya. He is a regular artist in Doordarshan and All India Radio and has also participated and performed in many Mahotsav (festivals) across the country.
Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-GandaiKCG is a district in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh which consists of three cities, Khairagarh, Chhuikhadan and Gandai. It was carved out of Rajnandgaon in 2022. It is the 31st district of the state inaugurated by chief minister Bhupesh Baghel.
