Indira Weis (born Verena Weis; [1] 30 September 1979) is a German singer who rose to fame as a member of the R&B/Pop group Bro'Sis.
Weis was born the second daughter to Manju, an Indian interpreter and her German-Jewish father Helmut, a retired grammar school teacher. Her father's ancestors were Hungarian Jews who had converted to Christianity to avoid being socially marginalized. [2] Her one-year older sister works as a flight attendant. Weis received the nickname "Indira" on a trip to India where she has relatives.
At the age of five, Weis started taking piano and guitar lessons. After finishing school and a short period of studying music sciences and American studies, Weis started taking theatrical lessons in a theatre school in Munich. There, she helped in a hip hop tape and started to work as a model. She left theatre school after one year and finished a training period in an internet agency. Before her application for Popstars , she worked as a producer for Frankfurt radio station Planet Radio.
After spending over a year in Israel, Weiss converted to Orthodox Judaism. Her Hebrew name is Shira, meaning "singing" in Hebrew.
In 2001, Weis auditioned for the second season of the German reality TV series Popstars . The judges Alex Christensen, Noah Sow and Detlef Soost were impressed with her performance of Usher's song "You Make Me Wanna". Weis earned a spot in the "recall" and "re-recall" (second and third round, respectively), and subsequently made it to the final eight of the show. During a special episode in November 2001, jury member Soost disclosed that Weis was chosen to become part of the final group, later named Bro'Sis.
With the final six members of the band in place, Popstars continued tracking the development and struggles of Bro'Sis. However, it took another two months until the band released "I Believe", produced by Christensen, which would subsequently appear on the band's debut album Never Forget (Where You Come From) . The single and the album became a major success, both peaking at No. 1 on the German and Austrian singles, airplay and albums charts, eventually selling more than 1.5 million copies.
In the following years, the hype around the band decreased. On 9 May 2003, four days before the band's second album's release, Weis announced her departure from the Bro'Sis. [3] Official statements claimed that musical differences between her and the rest of the group had been reason enough for leaving. However, rumours persisted that she had fallen out with her bandmates.
After going solo, Weis focused on her acting career. In September 2009, she released her debut single, a cover version of the Rudi Carrell single "Wann wird's mal wieder richtig Sommer?". [4] She recorded a video for her second single, "Oh", in September 2006, but the plans to release the video were dropped. Against her will, the video premiered in its entirety on YouTube on 6 November 2009 and received harsh criticism. [5] On 25 June 2010, Weis released her second single, "Beautiful Destination".

No Angels are an all-female pop group from Germany, formed in 2000. Originally a quintet, consisting of band members Nadja Benaissa, Lucy Diakovska, Sandy Mölling, Vanessa Petruo, and Jessica Wahls, they originated on the debut season of the German adaptation of the talent series Popstars and were one of the first television-cast acts to achieve sustainable success throughout Central Europe in the early 2000s. Following a major success with record-breaking single "Daylight in Your Eyes" and debut album Elle'ments in 2001, a series of hit records established their position as one of the most successful female band vocalists to emerge in the early decade. With four number-one hits, four number-one albums and record sales of more than 5.0 million, they became one of the most successful acts in German music history, winning three ECHOs, a World Music Award, a NRJ Music Award, two Comets, a Bambi and a Goldene Kamera.

She rose to fame in late 2000 when she auditioned for the German adaption of the reality television show Popstars and became a member of the girl group No Angels, one of the best-selling girl groups of European origin of all time. During their hiatus, Benaissa released her solo album, Schritt für Schritt (2007), which produced the single "Ich hab dich", and represented Hesse in the Bundesvision Song Contest 2006 with the song, finishing in fourth place.

"Daylight in Your Eyes" is the debut single by German girl group No Angels. It was written by Tony Bruno and Tommy Byrnes and initially recorded by American rock band New Life Crisis. A Tony Moran-produced remix of their version appeared on the MTV Party to Go Remixed compilation album (2001), but as their record company, Tommy Boy Entertainment, folded soon after, the group's original recording failed to receive a wider release, and the song was eventually sold separately abroad. There, "Daylight in Your Eyes" was purchased by Epic Records and re-recorded by the singer Victoria Faiella for her debut album with the label.

Lisa Bund is a German pop singer, songwriter, radio host, actor, and reality television star. Queensberry was an all-female German pop group founded in late 2008. Formed during the seventh season of the television talent show Popstars, Popstars – Just 4 Girls, the original line-up consisted of singers Leonore Bartsch (Leo), Gabriella De Almeida Rinne (Gabby), Antonella Trapani (Anto), and Victoria Ulbrich (Vici). In July 2010, it was announced that both Antonella and Victoria had left the group, to be replaced by new members, Selina Herrero and Ronja Hilbig.

In September 2001, the German version of Popstars returned with a second season, this time searching for a mixed-gender musical R&B group. More than 11,000 hopeful singers attended open television auditions in Frankfurt, Cologne, Berlin, Stuttgart, Hamburg, and Munich, conducted by choreographer Detlef "D!" Soost, producer Alex Christensen, and singer and radio host Noah Sow. Over the course of several recalls and re-recalls the three judges and vocal coach Artemis Gounaki reduced the contestants to a group of 32 who immediately travelled to Ibiza, Spain to get trained in singing, dancing, and fitness. In the end three females and five males remained who again moved into a loft in Munich to start working on their performance and publicity skills.
