It presents itself as an association of scholars, with supporting and encouraging research and the sharing and exchange of knowledge as its stated aims. The organization consists of 14 affiliate academies, which provide awards to academics and publish academic journals both online and in hard copy for members. Since 2015 the organization has been listed on Jeffrey Beall's list of "potential, possible, or probable predatory scholarly open-access publishers". It is in a partnership with OMICS Publishing Group which uses its website and logo. In 2018, OMICS owner Srinubabu Gedela declared that he had informed the Nevada court that Allied Academies was a subsidiary of OMICS International. During a conference in 2018, they falsely listed a prominent chemist among its organizing committee who had not agreed to this and was not affiliated with Allied Academies.

He was a psychologist, lawyer, professor, writer, and researcher. Bernal del Riesgo had a long and successful career at the University of Havana. Through his writings he developed the notion of "Cubanosofía" that defined the study of the Cuban psychological identity. The writings of Enrique José Varona and Alfredo Aguayo influenced his early work.

Susan Pick is a Mexican psychologist and the founder and president of the Mexican Institute for Family and Population Research. She has her Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of London. For her dissertation, she studied rural Mexico and the way in which social and cultural norms effected decision making and subsequent actions of women there. This research inspired the mission of IMIFAP-Yo Quiero, Yo Puedo and led to further investigations into the social barriers that prevent human change and development. She is the author of Breaking the Poverty Cycle: The Human Basis for Sustainable Development, which details her studies and her subsequent theory for social change, FrEE. She received the “Distinguished International Psychologist Award” from the American Psychological Association in 2002 and the “Distinguished Professional Award” from the International Association of Applied Psychology in 2006.
