The International School of Software at Wuhan University was established in March 2002. The school is administered independently and has put an emphasis on internationalized education. [1]

The school has 46 full-time and part-time faculty members. Among them, two are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. [1]

Chinese Academy of Sciences academy of sciences

The Chinese Academy of Sciences, with historical origins in the Academia Sinica during the Republican era and formerly also known by that name, is the national academy for the natural sciences of the People's Republic of China (PRC). Collectively known as the "Two Academies (两院)" along with the Chinese Academy of Engineering, it is an institution of China, functioning as the national scientific think tank and academic governing body, providing advisory and appraisal services on issues stemming from the national economy, social development, and science and technology progress. It is headquartered in Xicheng District, Beijing, with branch institutes all over mainland China. It has also created hundreds of commercial enterprises, Lenovo being one of the most famous.

The Chinese Academy of Engineering is the national academy of the People's Republic of China for engineering. It was established in 1994 and is an institution of the State Council of China. The CAE and the Chinese Academy of Sciences are often referred to together as the "Two Academies". Its current president is Li Xiaohong.

The school is involved in research and application development in software engineering, spatial information systems and digital engineering, multi-media digital technology, digital art design, visualization technology, information security, software reliability, quality assurance software systems, software development tools and environment, biological information engineering, financial information systems, software development, and IC design. Visualization software

Visualization software or visualisation software is a range of computer graphics products used to create graphical displays and interfaces for software applications. These products include libraries of graphical components or graphic objects and software editors for building and deploying data displays for applications. Primarily used in graphical user interfaces, these products support common platforms, including Java, .NET, Flex, and C++, and are used in desktop and web-based applications. They are used in different industries, including transportation, telecommunications, manufacturing and defense, to display information in formats designed to be easily understood. These displays are primarily for applications requiring custom, high-performance interfaces that are scalable and industry specific.

Information security, sometimes shortened to InfoSec, is the practice of preventing unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, inspection, recording or destruction of information. The information or data may take any form, e.g. electronic or physical. Information security's primary focus is the balanced protection of the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data while maintaining a focus on efficient policy implementation, all without hampering organization productivity. This is largely achieved through a multi-step risk management process that identifies assets, threat sources, vulnerabilities, potential impacts, and possible \controls, followed by assessment of the effectiveness of the risk management plan.

Bioinformatics Software tools for understanding biological data

Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that develops methods and software tools for understanding biological data. As an interdisciplinary field of science, bioinformatics combines biology, computer science, information engineering, mathematics and statistics to analyze and interpret biological data. Bioinformatics has been used for in silico analyses of biological queries using mathematical and statistical techniques.
