The Pittsburgh Xplosion was a professional basketball team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh were members of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) from 2006 to 2008. Founded in 2004 as the Pittsburgh Hard Hats as a member of the American Basketball Association (2000–present) (ABA), the team, following an ownership change, took the court as the Pennsylvania Pit Bulls. The team became the Xplosion in 2005, and joined the CBA in 2006. It has been replaced in the ABA with the modern day Pittsburgh Phantoms and later the Pittsburgh Bassets. The Xplosion played at Pittsburgh Civic Arena and on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh at the Petersen Events Center, both in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The West Michigan ThunderHawks were an indoor football team based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The team was most recently a member of the Indoor Football League. From their inception in 2007 until 2009, the ThunderHawks were known as the Muskegon Thunder and played at L.C. Walker Arena. In 2010, the team moved to Grand Rapids, MI. This is where the downfall of the team took place. The season started off hopeful with a 5–2 record. After week 7 the players were promised money at a later date as long as they played. Starting in 2010 the ThunderHawks played their home games at the DeltaPlex Arena, in nearby Walker, Michigan. The Thunderhawks did not field a team in 2011.

Iowa Highway 28 is a 21.73-mile-long (34.97 km) state highway located in south central Iowa. The route begins at Iowa Highway 92 at Martensdale and ends at Interstate 35 / Interstate 80 in Johnston. It is the first major north–south highway east of Interstate 35 in the Des Moines metropolitan area.

John Thomas "J. T." Smith is a former professional American football player who played in the National Football League from 1978 to 1990. A 6'2", 185-lb. undrafted wide receiver and punt returner from the University of North Texas, Smith played for the Washington Redskins, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the St.Louis/Phoenix Cardinals. His best year as a professional came during the strike shortened 1987 season for the Cardinals when he led the NFL with 91 receptions for 1,117 yards.

The Kalamazoo Xplosion was an indoor football team based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Xplosion began play in 2007 expansion team of the Continental Indoor Football League. They played their home games at Wings Stadium.

The Saginaw Sting was a professional Indoor Football team based in Saginaw, Michigan. The team was most recently a member of American Indoor Football (AIF). They began play in 2008 as an expansion team in the Continental Indoor Football League and then moved to the Indoor Football League for the 2009 season. They suspended operations for the 2010 season before becoming an inaugural member of the Ultimate Indoor Football League. The following season they were suspended by the UIFL and re-joined the CIFL under new ownership. The team has since moved to the AIF. The owners of the Sting were Stuart Schweigert, Rob Licht and Jim O'Brien. The Sting played their home games at The Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Michigan.

The 2008 Continental Indoor Football League season is the league's third overall season. The season began on Friday, March 7, and ended on Sunday, June 29th, with the CIFL Championship Game.

The 2011 Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team represented Rutgers University in the 2011 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Scarlet Knights were led by 11th year head coach Greg Schiano and played their home games at High Point Solutions Stadium. They are a member of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 9–4, 4–3 in Big East play to finish in a tie for fourth place. They were invited to the Pinstripe Bowl where they defeated Iowa State 27–13.

Churchville is an unincorporated community in Warren County, Iowa, United States. It is located in Jefferson Township at the intersection of Churchville Street and 30th Avenue. It is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) southwest of Prole and two miles (3.2 km) north of Martensdale at an altitude of 971 feet (296 m).

The Three Rivers Xplosion is a women's football team based in South Side, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. They are members of the Women's Spring Football League (WSFL) and was the first player-owned women's tackle football team in Pittsburgh. The team was founded and played their first season in 2011 as an independent team, then joined the WSFL for the 2012 season, where they finished 3–5 and won the Northeast 8-man Division title.
